I have $45,000 in my checking account. I realized how fucking stupid it is just to have it sitting there. I'm thinking of putting it in a money market account and leaving $10,000 in my checking.

Money market accounts barely beat inflation but it's still a good idea.
wew twitter.com/Tesla/status/1033191002033381376 its literally ogre this shit is gonna fall right out of the sky if he cant provide evidence that funds were secured at the time of that tweet (which he still HASNT), then hes actually going to prison
stupid faggot needs to get off of twitter before he tweets himself into even more trouble
Anyone investing in TEVA? Warren Buffett keeps buying it.

>Delta How much the option will increase in price for every $1 move of the underlying security. DIA is around $258 so say it went up to $259 the option's value would increase by that amount.
>Theta Time decay, basically how much value the option loses per day. And Theta starts to increase the closer the option gets to expiration until the option eventually expires worthless.
>Gamma How much the delta will increase for every $1 move. Think of Delta as the speed and Gamma as the acceleration. As options get further in the money Delta will eventually approach closer to 1.
>Vega Vega is the amount call and put prices will change, in theory, for a corresponding one-point change in implied volatility.
>Rho the amount an option value will change in theory based on a one percentage-point change in interest rates. It's not very important if you're doing short term options (less than 6 months or so). But if you're doing options that are longer than a year then interest rates could affect them.
Theta and Delta are the most important greeks honestly, if you've got a good handle on those then you'll do fine.

>my buttcoin doesn't get here till Tuesday and I'm going to miss the market crash by 1 day Correction on Monday confirmed

>BABA is the next big short I am not quite sure about that It is a scammy chink (pleonasm) company that doesn't reward its shareholders.
But it is pretty much systemic in China and owns a big chunk of the payment netword.
I wouldn't touch that shit, either long or short.
Ayden Morris
thanks, i'm now hungry.

Shorting Tesla with 3x leverage is the safest and most prudent action the modern investor can take

I currently own:
Emerging market ETF SPY index fund Danish index fund (I'm Danish, so there) An active investment fund (value strategy)
Thinking about getting into another index fund.
FTSE 100 or DAX 30??
Austin Morales
Sell emerging market, they are getting fucked as USA grows stronger and stronger.
Joshua Watson
Doesn't matter what it does in china. it traded in america which sets the price. I'm not saying short now, hell may be even worth going long now for the hype. I am saying keep an eye on it for the fishy "Aha!" moment that the public won't catch right away then offload onto dumb money and change your position.
Jacob Sullivan
I'm learning my way around trading. Prior to joining my job at one of the banks as a developer, I did a brief foray (a few months) by doing swing trades on technicals, and shorting retail (SHLD dying like a bitch).
However, I am restricted to trade as follows: -Cannot short. -Must get pre-approval to buy or sell. -Must hold positions for a minimum of 15 days.
So this means I need to play the buy-and-hold game, or learn options (I didn't see any restrictions on buying puts, but I would need to doublecheck). Atm, I have a small position on Micron, hoping for another EPS beat.
What strategies are recommended within these restrictions? My current plan is to programmatically: -Scan earning days for 15-30 forward business days. -Do EPS analysis for those companies (beat/miss by quarter) -Intersect with a low RSI.
Is there any other advice?
Joshua Wright
on papertrade!
Connor Johnson
just go 100% SPY
Nathan Brooks
Fun and impossible fact of the day, if you start with a smol amount of $50 and gain 4% everyday for 365 days with no losses, you will end up 82 million dollars. f00kin easy m8
Everything is overbought. RSI way too high on Canopy, Aphria, Cron.
Sebastian Long
You didnt take into account the weekends either noob.
Alexander Kelly
Yep. I dunno about the popcorn but I do have my portfolio 90% in cash now. Will be waiting for big drop and low support established before reentering anything.
Jackson Powell
>overbought Isn't this because of foreigner's money going whole hog on the American market in fear of the trade wars exploding the emerging markets.
I started a year ago in stocks. Is this year a normal year for how stocks usually go? Other than the correction and korea/tradewars bullshit Ive noticed alot less volume on some of the big stocks and at times prices seem to be more easily manipulated then just fall back to normal shortly after it reeks of bullshit. It really is something when even warren buffet goes out and buys apple theres so much speculation on stupid tech companies.
Nathan Sullivan
This year has been more volatile than average but nothing wildly out of the ordinary.
Ethan Gutierrez
Use pic related strategy It has had a nice track record so far this year
It was annoying having all this bullshit going on where people all of the sudden cared about geopolitics and other bullshit while the economy is doing pretty good right now.
Adam Evans
it's not, it closes on friday with the NYSE and opens on sunday with the newzealand stock exchange

I wanted to read that book next maybe I read alot of some basic stock books. How is soros writing style does the book contain some good knowledge? a few of my stock books are just flatout buy the index I knew some traders that lost all their money with options blah blah blah.
Sebastian Gray
IB paper trading.

At least Tesla is always there to short UwU

I've drawn the cards, I'll write up my interpretation soon. Gotta eat first. Elon actually showed up in my tarot reading, more to come.
Kevin Kelly
its defff the most abstract finance book, he doesnt talk about trading at all, just some weird interactions between certrian aspects of market, his "theory of reflexivity"
hard to say how valuable it am for trading
>a few of my stock books are just flatout buy the index I knew some traders that lost all their money with options blah blah blah. dont get why there are so many finance books like this ?_? am thinking they are all FUD trying scare people away from trading and sell them ETFs
Jeremiah Perry
take a look at comfy and you'll see who this advice is for
Jacob Wood
>am thinking they are all FUD trying scare people away from trading and sell them ETF Because 90% of people can't beat the market and don't have the time to get good or actively try
Cooper Miller
Honestly this very much. I'm a good example on why the average joe shouldn't trade
Christopher Hernandez
>Because 90% of people
90% of fond managers, as in PAID professionals, cannot do it.
Lululemon will bring you good fortune from their Q2 report.
I'll be taking a large position beforehand in addition to 3 puts, expiring on 8/31, as insurance, a backstop, just in case.
In my fun account, I'll pickup $1000 to $2000 of calls or something. Be aware that there isn't a significant time premium attached to LULU calls -- buy into September or even October.
Joshua Collins
Ok guys honest question, I bough GE some months ago thinking of a recovery, but it seems that it will be long till I make some profit (bought at 14,17)
Do I hold a bit more? Sell and buy some of that technological rush?
Josiah White
Stoopid Golden bull, even though I need to it up make money now I'm still bitter
Aaron Sanchez
>GE
Tariffs. What price did you pay? Honestly, I'd close your position and employ your money more profitably elsewhere.
Grayson Campbell
Just noticed the price -- close the position. That's my honest assessment.
Jace Brooks
Just a reminder we have a room that'll open up pretty soon on Stocktwits
Think about it -- it's what I would do in your position. There's a chance that it has bottomed however the tariffs will continue to weigh on the stock. If you don't already have access to options, you might consider purchasing a protective put while taking a long position. This functions as insurance against losses and is cheap provided it's > 10% outside of the money. If you can protect your position against any additional and significant losses, you could hold out until the trade situation improves.
Less than $100? I would say Lululemon before their earnings call this week, however it's trading at > $130.
I'm mostly into options but sit on MSFT, some banks and Canada Goose, all of which are protected with puts.
Elijah Russell
Why doesn't /smg/ have an official marketwatch sim game. like r*ddit?
