Cougar: Calm down and listen to me. That resurrection medicine is completely experimental. (Jack resurrected time something is.) I don't think that's a very long time.
Is it limit? "There's a limit to how long Jack will be resurrected?"
Logan Miller
yes 蘇生している時間にも 限りがある

Cole: In the movie "Dawn of the Zombies", the zombies died if you shot them in the heart. But in Doc's lab they didn't give up now matter how much we shot them in the heart. Did the movie lie?
you cannot make a comprehensive list you cannot rely on words having exact equivalents

What do you guys think about parallel texts? I need a step between manga and full LN/big boy books. Manga is mostly just dialogue and doesn't fully address my needs.
Also am I crazy or does Murakami write on a fifth grade level? Maybe it's just this selection but his word choices are all simplistic.
the stories of the one you posted are mostly crappy and uninteresting pic related would be a better choice imo
>What do you guys think about parallel texts? I've read a few of them, but in hindsight I don't think they were all that helpful at the end you rely way too much on the translations instead of figuring shit out for yourself. you may feel like taking a shortcut this way, but ultimately nothing can spare you the process of puzzling out japanese grammar
personally I'd recommend you to just start some LN with a relatively low kanji count (Kino's Journey for example), they aren't that much harder than manga once you got into it
Well, I'll read both and start kino afterwards I guess.

キノの旅 is actually easier to read than anything written by 芥川. Compare the following line from キノの旅: >右側に二つ山が見えて、左に一つ遠くに見える。木が一本も生えてない山だ。 against this one from 邪宗門 >あれは確か、若殿様の十九の御年だったかと存じます。思いもよらない急な御病気とは云うものの、
Matthew Morris
That's a hell of a difference. akutagawa's lines are convoluted by comparison. kino really does seem gradeschooler-tier. Well, nice. Thanks bro.

>Are the police also (weak to fire?) か there is not working as interrogative, but indicating the feeling of the speaker being moved. Therefore it’d be like >Hmm, it seems even the police is weak when it comes to fire.. >so that they have put an extinguisher even in a place like this, overcautiously.(maybe..) >and I haven’t seen the usage of “weak” with the preposition “to”. Thanks for letting me know it.
>the girls This, including the 彼女 of the speaker of the fourth line, who are bullying 高島 mostly.
Gavin Sullivan
I thought so too. But I was confused since they said そのぐらいのリスク and 自己責任, and it seems like he's implying the girls should take responsibility for something they didn't do (stealing a person's clothes). I guess this is the joke, though...
>he's implying the girls should take responsibility for something they didn't do (stealing a person's clothes) Because they are actually bullying 高島. So it’s a sarcasm rather than a simple joke..
whats the difference between てある and ている for static states. for example 窓が割れている and 窓を割れてある. is the first one focuses on saying the window is broken (and remains broken) and the second one says the window is broken and stays broken (because of someones actions). so てある focuses on the volition of the action by someone , ている is only referring to the state and not focusing on a persons actions
Joseph Garcia
or i mean to say ている refers to a change of state for an action without agent and てある refers to the actions of someone that results in the change of a state
Joseph Nelson
Sup boys. Gonna go to university to learn Japanese full time. Got pretty much no experience. What am I in for?
Adrian Edwards
I see. It makes sense why they would say どの口を言うんだ immediately after. Thank you!
