Since 60s or 70s nigs have tried to create their own culture and try to make it more french. Like said, probably due to French residual culture in New Orleans which then spread elsewhere as sort of pan black american sentiment. They got a name like Marcus and added Le to become LeMarcus, etc. Some other names like Tyrone (irish) and natasha became black too (Natasha/Tasha).
