ETH is one of the only coins that has a large group of people actively trying to improve it. I think ETH still has the edge on ZIL, even though I'm invested in both.

1. create mining pools
mining pools are validating nodes, in the ETH network a validating node is becoming more and more expensive
most miners can't even be a validating node so they dedicate their hardware to a mining pool
2. as the number of pools shrink my remaining pools get more and more hash power
3. do a 51% attack and literally have no investment in mining equipment
