Thinking of buying a Macbook in cash

I bought mine 6 years ago, and use it daily, and only now the battery is down to 50% capacity which means "only" 5 hours.

Also love having a real unix OS under the hood.

It's a soft (normie) status symbol, I could do perfectly fine with a ThinkPad but err, why not flash the cash, i'll only use it to browse the internet anyway...

For me, having a proper bash terminal and a fully functional MS Office suite on the same machine was the most important thing, but the weight, screen resolution and build quality (especially the touchpad) were really nice bonuses.

I bought a 15 inch mbp for about 2500 in cash, nothing bad happened. My card got canceled unknowingly because the number was found in some hacker database so when I tried buying it I had to drive to the bank and withdraw cash.

i did this with my crypto gains buying a mac in january. Had £2k in cash and handed it over. I dropped my spaghetti and gave him like £2.1k and he recounted it and gave it back to me and i dropped it lel. then the manager came over and recounted it. then they recounted it one more time and then i got to pay and leave.

if you're spending like 2 grand cash it's odd but they won't call the police as long as it isn't counterfeit and you don't have a warrant out you'll be fine just make sure not to make multiple big ticket purchases in cash in a short period of time

see I've been wirthdrawing small amounts of cash for years now thru localbitcoin and atm's, to start paying tax now is to open a whole box of worms. I've never had any problems but i've never made a big purchase with cash before
