Skycoin Hardware Wallet is out

Skycoin Hardware Wallet is out.

Not yet in merch, but you can find them at events. Anyone who went to Hamburg or Melbourne and had the chance to see them from close?
Promised as very cheap for a hardware wallet, I would like to buy one, but don't know yet if is good material or not.

is it better than ledger? what coins can it host? looks a bit fragile, if u ask me

Product is hand made of the highest quality sirs

It should beat ledger in price and in features.I think it is supose to host most coin types

Does it have any display like Ledger nano S?

It supposed to hold any coin, it is not only for SKYcoin. I was reading that they are working/ cooperating with Nano Ledger. Fragile from which point of view?

>>Not yet in merch, but you can find them at events.
Just a prototype. Too soon to purchase it, in this very moment it could hold only skycoin, mdl tokens and solar banks tokens (if Solar got any). It should be way greater than what's already on the market

Are official skyminer owners still getting one for free? Or was that just synth pulling promises out his ass again?

Ref. polymeric material but that's what makes it so affordable

get a Ledger Nano S and be done with it . They sold over 1 m units so you can trust that it s working

There are some achievements after Vegas conf. which makes the hardware release more urgent

An Oil and Gas Company with over a billion dollars in asset is in talks with skycoin for partnership, as they want to invest in the blockchain capabilities of skycoin.

An e-commerce platform in Asia, a competitor to Alibaba who has 300M users wants to implement Skycoin for accepting payment for countries having limited banking

Italian leather bag supplier is using Skycoin for supply chain tracking

Talks are in an advanced state to use skycoin for casino loyalty rewards. Coinhours very key here

Wallet application company with contracts with some of the biggest retailers in the world wants to implement Skycoin as their system of payment.

Ledger is made out of stainless steel, supports all kind of coins and is tested . 25$ sound ok , but i don t think mine is gonna break soon

> It should be way greater than what's already on the market
how so pajeet?

ive had a ledger break on me. piece of shit just stopped working after 3 months of sitting on my desk lol

Yes, but someone twitted that they had a look at it at the Melbourne's Conference, it looks pretty dope.
But now that the prototype is out, I think merch will be out soon as well. Otherwise why would they bring the prototype for the people?

It s not about breaking it is that Ledger is susceptible for cyberattacks because of it s architecture. There is Saleem Rashid who claimes that the design of ledger has a hardware flaw , the tamper proof chip it has is directly linked to peripherals throughout a micro-controller. It s not a big deal as long as the wallet comes directly from the producers but who knows what might happen

Lol... now that s a problem my Trezor wallet doesn’t have , and it s been like 5 years or so

Now make sense why so cheap and affordable. When you buy a wallet what are the top 3 characteristics which has to be taken in consideration?

Never heard of such a claim , good to know but it s not a major concern now because my wallet is 2 years old , if someone wanted to hack me i think they would have done it by now
I use Ripple among others and trezor is no help with that

For me the first thing is security, durability user friendly access and interface. Needles to say that the forth is actually the first it all depends on what coin you plan to use

I might pick one up just at the prospect of it being a niece collectors item like the Skarp Laser Razor.
Why would you need to store a utility coin in a hardware wallet anyway? The point is to have it always active like a normal internet connection surely?

>Oh let me check my emails, just insert my hardware wallet, enter the password, transfer some skycoin, start up the node... oh, still nothing. Transfer it all back and lock the wallet again.

Skycoin worked with manufacturer such as Ledger for a better prototyope, as well as using JavaScript as interface for the Hardware wallet. Ledger is very good, but not affordable to everyone, especially if you are newbie. So, one of the advantage is this for sure. The design looks ok too. I have a Nano, happy with for now, but this cheap I would buy the Skycoin. Looks worthy.

True. Skycoin just released two weeks ago the Android Software wallet. If you don't hold much, using a software wallet is the smartest thing to do. Oh, and is for free.

Sky is headed to the big scale game . If ledger price is 175 $ and they plan getting the wallet at a 25$ price that means they will run over existing wallets like through butter . I m curious of the comeback from Trezor and Ledger after Skywallet launches

Yes and no. From an active buyer and seller of many forms of crypto i always use hardware wallet to protect my investment . I buy some then i store them in the wallet so that i cut off the internet. On low coin numbers software wallets are ok but when you increse profit go get a real one with no risks

This is what we know so far officially, the rest are speculations:
>Skycoin has been working hard with third party wallet manufacturers (such as Ledger) to get Skycoin supported on several different hardware wallet solutions with security at the core of the design
Skycoin is also producing their proprietary hardware wallets, which is not expected to cost more than $25. This proprietary wallet will be able to store Skycoin, all Skyfibre tokens, and other popular coins.

this thread is the most obvious mock q and a marketing pitch I've ever seen. is this what it's like to see the pajeet matrix?

Why so? Nooo, don't tell me that because is a thread about Skycoin. Or you have any better arguments?

As BTC had its haters so has any coin that is different from most existing projects. This is a hardware thread , what do you want? No names for tech devices and brands?

i don't care about skycoin, it's just that a lot of the posts are so bad. the grammar, sentence structure and spelling mistakes are clearly from the third world.

Well it a because everyone talks casual and non formal, posting from their phones or tablets, Jow Forums isn t exactly Harvard but beside grammet and misspelling i think that the idea should be the most important

I wonder if it has the ability of nano to recognise its a safe unit. Bitfi wallet is essentially an airgapped phone. Thats probably all skycoin hardware is. Honestly thats all u need.

and clearly you are suffering of eurocentric Western syndrome. On Jow Forums nobody write an academic paper, is a fuckin forum to discuss whatever we want, and how we want. If this is your argument my friend, you should consider to leave Jow Forums in general. If you need, I can recommend some academic websites where you can show off with your syndrome. :)

>Let's pause for a second during Skywire testnet and observe Skycoin's hardware wallet beginning to take form.

Hardware wallets are so far superior to software or 3rd party wallets that concerns about fragility or physical attack are irrelevant. Let strangers have access to your physical wallet and you deserve to lose your shit anyway. memorize your seed and destroy all records of your wallet for better security. Wait and get the $1000+ luxury version if you want higher build quality and added security features like those used in bank keys. Skycoin's 25$ price range hardware wallet is something that will be imitated early and often. The point of this thing isn't even security though, This will be the ipod of cryptocurrency. The way it interacts with your skycoin daemon or web wallet node. DEX and dapp integration. Plug it in and conduct ecommerce without inhibitions. The low price is essential to the meaning of this device. Skycoin hardware wallet is all about the ecosystem.
