There is some difference between history and historical memory. People never remember what actually happened, memories are changing permanently because of political, economical, cultural and social displacements.

the brits did provide critical intelligence and subsequently created the world's first computer, so in a way they changed the entire world from it more than any other nation

2ND WORLD IMPERIALIST WAR WAS NOTHING MORE THAN A REPEAT OF THE FIRST ONE ON A BIGGER SCALE. IT WAS NOTHING MORE THAN ANOTHER MASSACRE OF PROLETARIANS IN THE NAME OF FASCISM AND "ANTI-FASCISM" DEMONSTRATING THE CORRECTNESS OF MARXISM AND ANTI-COMMUNIST NATURE OF "ANTI-FASCISM"

To be honest, as much as I hate the food, Spam did unironically help the war efforts, with even the soviets having admitted to it having helped out feed the soldiers after most of their agricultural fields were desroyed in the war, so in a way, the US did contribute a lot in the war, even if it was through some shitty meat.

No, they knew and saw certein things which created their opinion with help of dominating discourses and social conditions. Same now, people, who aren't professional researchers, know just something about just some events of that time. But what exactly do we know and what do we think about it - that's responsibility of historians, media, education and all that stuff. But this configurations is always different, considering place, time, culture etc.
Grayson Taylor
>Same now
the distribution of information now is drastically different than it was in the 1940s. People who even did experience things or knew things that were happening in WW2 were told to keep quiet about it. Very few people actually had a clear view of what was happening all over the world during WW2 and very few people probably still have an accurate view of what happened during WW2.
Isaac Sanders
>Very few people actually had a clear view of what was happening
The problem is that you believe in the "clear view", I don't think that thing like this exists at all. There are different views, some are made by ideology, some by different science methods, some by other considerations, but there is no view which can pretend to be genuine.
Jack Parker
What the fuck are you talking about? the UK turned the entire world against the axis and on top of that you lost the war at the battle for britain, there was no realistic come back after that, without the Soviets and Americans Brits would had keep bombing you until you surrendered or Japan saved your asses somehow
Brayden Diaz
There is an absolute truth, but humans are predisposed to their own narrow views.
Charles Nelson
>I don't think that thing like this exists at all
The fuck are you talking about? Things that happened are the clear truth. Just because you don't know something doesn't mean it doesn't exist
Ryan Cooper
Even if it exists it is just inaccessable for us.
