DJT is a Japanese language 勉強スレ for 人々 interested in the language, anime, manga, visual novels, light novels and Japanese video games. Japanese speakers learning English are welcome, too.
I had some questions from this passage: いかにも高尚な死の恐怖 should be parsed as [ いかにも高尚な ] [ 死の恐怖 ] right? With the sentence itself meaning "Moreover, it's a vulgar, yet vulgar fear?" And this part「貨幣が貨幣として成り立っている事と変わらない不可思議と同じ」is really confusing to me, and really the sentence after as well. But I'm really lost on how to parse 「~と変わらない不可思議と同じ」specifically. "Similar to what is treated as currency and how that mysteriously never changes"?
>いかにも高尚な死の恐怖 any ideas of fearing death which they believed to be noble >貨幣が貨幣として成り立っている事と変わらない不可思議と同じ It's just the same as the mystery which has no difference from the fact that currency is treated as currency all on its own.
I think the second line is a bad sentence, It'd be clearer if it's >貨幣が貨幣として成り立っている不可思議と同じ "It's just the same as the mystery that currency is treated as currency all on its own."
Tyler Hill
Thanks! If I may ask, how are you interpreting the ほど then, in 高尚な死の恐怖ほど?
Leo Nelson
“The more noble the fear they may believe to be(, the more vulgar it is in reality.)”
Wyatt Torres
Oh... that kind of ほど. I guess I'm only used to seeing that usage in patterns like 〜ば...ほど. One last thing, this parallelism with 先送りにされた is vague/meaningless to you too right? I guess I fail to understand what the writer is saying with 価値としての貨幣 and whatnot.
James Ross
Yes, it an absolute drivel. Maybe the author is trying to say things like >the currency has hardly value on its own but people regard it precious because it yields a secure result of being changed with something actually valuable. >So it's the just the same as the fear for death we are discussing. They are nothing but the feeling or expectation for secure destinies in the same fashion and if you call money vulgar, there is no way those fears are not! (and I think my English is really terrible this time.) This is far-fetched and meaningless. In the first place if the fear or uneasiness for uncertain and insecure future is comparable to money, why are we this poor!?
This guy and the Canadian user always stumble on really shitty writings which are totally vague and confusing even for us and bring them on here. No need to feel in that way desu.
Luis Fisher
Hmm, I replied to myself and that was actually meant for (you)
Logan Wood
Hahaha. I also read Raw manga sometimes, and believe it or not, I actually kinda get what they are saying, even though I know Kana, but the meaning I get from those few Kanji's I know >"oh so they are talking about that, so in the current situation they could do/use that in that way"
Uh, yeaaaaaaaaa. I learnt quite a bit thanks to them. They are well made, and on Udemy 200$/€ courses are most of the time 12$/€ - 35$/€. So far everything that I have bought and learned on Udemy, I can easily say "worth every penny"
And that's why you still don't know anything about the language you gullible idiot
Christian Rogers
UUU shots fired huh. Or maybe because I was learning only kanji N5 level, I know how to use "desu", I also did learn some basic shit from anime (watching subbed for more than 5 years). A week ago I started learning grammar, aside from that I also need to fuck with shit for school, and I also study CyberSEC & Adobe.
That's why I'm not the grammar expert you wish me to be, you faggot.
>いい度胸。よし、合格だ。 >お前には覚えられる(。)でも無駄遣い*をやめて欲しいんだ、(。is better than comma here)この言語は簡単すぎて金は必要ない。時間はたった一つの*対価(but it still sounds bit unnatural though..I mean much too stiff)なんだ。暗記もやれ。

Sup /djt/.
I am making a Japanese deck with sentences sorted from easiest to hardest. One new word is introduced at a time.
Here is a preview. Do you guys think this could work out?
Well then, congrats, I started in december, but at that time I didn't study alot. I got a lot more serious in march and now after 4 months I am know basic of basic kanji, and unlike grammar, I'm more successful with vocabulary. But again, complete basics.
Lemme guess, you learned JPN by reading those DJT guides and study books, spammed Anki a lot and talked to JPN folks on this thread.
I think the most important thing for me was not being a 100% autist and not wasting time on everything I see like you.
Luke Stewart
Seriously what the fuck is your fucking problem? Also, >Wasting time on everything I see like what? I am actually trying to learn something here, and for that you гигaнтcкa пичкeтинa think I am an autist wasting time? Well guess I will just waste time trying to actually have a normal conversation with a пeдepacт like you
じゃあ金は必要ない、時間は必要。 You act like reddit and I don't like your filenames, you say you've been learning months but I don't see any worthwhile progress when you can't even read simple posts. You are wasting time on some useless shit, in months I learned far more.
Daniel Morris
#1 I don't go on reddit buddy, it's a fucking NPC infested shitshow.
#2 Those filenames I put myself so I can quickly find the image i wanna post, since i have a fuck ton of reaction images, and I don't need to spend 10 mins to find every pic.
#3 >in months I learned far more Aight, if I am wasting time, then can you tell me how to "do it the right way"? I seriously don't know why dafaq suddently you got so salty towards me. This isn't Jow Forums or /b/ where everybody is calling each other "nigger" and are literally expected to get shit on.
>like you rude Maybe he mentioned the Brazilianon's post which you replied and didn't want you to do that as maybe he though it's meaningless to make a list which contains all lines likely to appear on anime.
Brody Gray
I'm not salty, I'm telling you your learning method is shit, you're wasting tons of money on some useless courses. You say you don't have much time on your hands for the language but you use one of the worst methods to learn. You need to optimize your learning method then because with the courses you'll never learn this language unless you want to spend thousands of dosh and hours on useless scams.
I just did Anki like a madlad for 6 months, core6k and a mining deck at the same time. Some grammar on the side from Tae Kim guidetojapanese.org/learn/grammar as well, sometimes read some Yotsuba. After I finished core6k I stopped giving a fuck about Anki, it's useful at the start but gets worse and worse with time, I only do new cards nowadays and skip reps to not waste time on that shit anymore, I'm focusing more on reading Yotsuba, watching tons of anime and reading grammar from DoJG itazuraneko.neocities.org/grammar/dojgmain.html There's also shitposting in this thread and having natives correct me sometimes, but at the start Anki is very important, it just shits thousands of kanji and words at you, best crash course.
Mason Collins
might as well invest your time on smartphone games..
If you learned so much in just 1 year then I admit, that your way is better.
But also I didn't only watch those courses, but I made my own kana & kanji practice sheets in Word. (btw, I "wasted" 34€, which I wouldn't call "thousands of dosh")
No because I wasn't learning Japanese back then, but also yes.
Jaxson Harris
I never understood why the /a/ mods rejected the threads. They were a mainstay for a long time and to be honest I prefer the board culture of /a/ to Jow Forums.
Carson Nelson
Ah nice! >(sry for shit GER grammar lol) It's fine, except >viesen das der polischer wissen, dass der polnische
Xavier Reed
I am doing 10 new cards per day and I can't be bothered to do more. Choose wisely. Your daily reviews will be 10* the daily amount on average.
Actually you are right, I put it to 60 to please Polish user, but now that I look at it again, you're making sense, I will put it down to 20-25.
Jacob Barnes
It kind of depends to be honest. At the beginning when you're still struggling with everything I would agree with low new cards, but after that first hurdle you can set it to 40-60 for quite some time before it really piles up. >NordVPN be careful my friend~
Ah no worries user. I had NordVPN on but I wasn't connected to any server. I really am from SLO. I forgot to close it from before when I was watching WW2 videos on YT that were "blocked for hate speech" in my country cuz there were swastikas in them. Some of those videos were the "Deutsche Vochenshau Nazi newsreels" >be careful my friend~ Why is that? Im not doing anything illegal
What's wrong with that? It's a common one as well.
Gabriel Garcia
HOLY FUCK, Thanks for the heads up. Well, I think this tracker is neutralized by my AV and browser, but if it doesn't then fuck it. I only use VPN to watch stuff that the EU boomerfags think is "innapropriate" for me and block it (WW2,Nazi stuff,etc.).
Tracking like that is done by pretty much everything nowadays. But considering how cheap and widely advertised it is, there's definitely something fishy going on.
Is there a Yomichan, but as android app, so I can select text in any app and share it to the lookup app?
Jacob Collins
Sorry for the late reply, but I appreciate the help again. I was stuck wondering if it was simply meaningless drivel, or if my comprehension was at fault.
Parker Walker
Is there an adjective for something to be relaxing/soothing in nature? Like comfy music. I asked a native speaker and all they came back with was くつろぐ and いやし which don't quite fit.
Something like そのBGMが「●」ですね。
Nolan Morales
癒やされる
Gavin Lewis
Maybe I'm interpreting this wrong because of yomichan, but it comes up as heal/cure as in therapeutic. Does it function the same as 'comfortable' the way we use it as 'comfy' to talk about music and imagery?
Maybe 快い? That one is only one phones, but yeah what said, especially since they don't seem to respect your privacy. Sag das Zauberwort und du hast die Macht, halt den Mondstein fest und spür die Kraft! >imagine not watching Sailor Moon youtube.com/watch?v=pYYn-HSJfyU
Luis Sanchez
>got Zombieland Saga because of our German friend >it's all without subtitles
