Don't believe ANYTHING anyone else tells you otherwise. People who make money through traffic on the website took YEARS to set up. You're not making money on ads on YouTube unless you're a cute girl, win the keyword jackpot, or have a team of users producing entertaining animations.

Can you make money as a programmer? Yes, but the competition is so fierce that unless you have a degree, you're not doing anything. Same thing goes for website design, art, etc. You NEED to have some kind of education for these things, and even when you do, the competition is fierce, and a lot of the time, you have to network through online chatting.
