Anime is growing in popularity though, I have been getting into it for the first time because of Netflix, devil man cry, attack on titan, One punch man are all really good.

it's not a big maybe, anime in the 80-90s were golden age, inventing new genres and revitalizing older genres, nowadays it's just remakes manga-anime and short-novel-anime, anime is no longer an avant garde type of media, it is a subsumed secondary, merchandising and brand building is its primary function
