In countries like Canada the drugs are priced to accommodate subsidization. At the age of 20 I was hit with a chronic condition that requires tens of thousands of dollars worth of medication every year, no shit I can’t afford that on my own, and no one’s really supposed to. My government wouldn’t let me die, there’s payment assistance so I’m not fucked. Tax money is used for that.

If there was no assistance through those government sponsored programs, a lot less people would buy super expensive drugs like that and they’d end up dying or whatever, which would be bad for their bottom-line.
