>Why can’t America leave other countries to their own business?
We learned from the best.

yeah i'm sure that there was no motive for doing that, maybe a global ideological struggle or something but whatever

South America would be 1st world today if The United Kingdom had remained the hegemonic power in that region.
You know it's true

American involvement in Latin America predates the cold war and has very little to do with it.

Le capitalism is best IS NOT AN ARGUMENT

Nice! Now how about free movement of people, as you say America for Americans!

The monroe doctrine was designed to keep european powers out, the first half this countries life has been surrounded by power hungry colonial empires and obviously we wanted that to come to an end. Our interventions in South America were based around a similar thing, preventing communist parties from taking power in south america and giving the Soviet Union bases in South America.

it's not an argument. it's a fact

What about the Banana Wars which occurred decades before the USSR even existed? The same wars that General Smedley Butler later said were imperialist wars of aggression waged at the behest of American capitalists?

Literally when the fuck were they ever the hegemon there

Since Monroe doctrine. Latin America has been our bitch for a long time.

Throughout most of the 19th century.

they took buenos aires and then they were dabbed by civilians

Monroe doctrine was enforced by the British navy you absolute dumb shit

The banana wars weren't a part of the monroe doctrine, we just wanted cheaper bananas. Same goes for our position in modern day venezeula

>preventing communist parties from taking power in south america and giving the Soviet Union bases in South America.
That's the ideological excuse, the reason was economical

I don't think you understand what "hegemony" actually is.

What does it matter whether or not it was part of the Monroe Doctrine? You were claiming that all the American intervention in Latin America was because of muh fighting gommunism, but the Banana Wars were fought before communism even had any significant position in the world. While some of the more recent interventions were because of muh gommunism, every intervention undoubtedly had a primarily economic motive. The US wanted to crush any popular reformist or socialist uprisings against their puppet leaders who agreed to sell out their country to multinational corporations.

I don't think you understand much of anything. stop posting

Whataboutism, America should mind its own fucking affairs

Then why are you still interfering in countries like Venezuela today? There is no soviet union

Whenever we get a president who even hints at isolationism you and the rest of the world throw a hissy fit.

Why shouldn't we?

> Then why are you still interfering in countries like Venezuela today? There is no soviet union

Reminder that America is literally paying Guaido's salary now. The coup is still on.

>GB telling anyone to mind their own business.

but he is right, maduro is an illegitimate Russian puppet that was not chosen
these are also opinions of politicians, not actions that the US government has done

>maduro is an illegitimate Russian puppet that was not chosen
Maduro is legitimate and not a russian "puppet". Russia has investments in VZ and so has an interest in maintaining political stability there. Same with China (which also supports Maduro despite initially being on the fence about the whole coup.) The only puppet here is Guaido.
