Constantinople/Istanbul is basically the most important European city ever. And it is a city of Turkey. Most Turks have european ancestry. It is true that Turkey is between asia and europe but it is still very european. They shaped "european culture" so to speak. Turks are a part of european history and heritage. Turkey is european. If it wasn't, it will be treated like Morocco and wont be considered an EU member state contender.
