LOFTY DREAMS

If LINK violently moons I want to dedicate my life to preserving the wellbeing of animals and nature in general.

How can we clean up the plastic in our ocean and monetize the plastic we collect? I know there is a guy already trying to do this with the Ocean Project, but his efforts really do nothing to remove any microplastics.

Any smart user's here?

hydro generators powered by deep ocean currents that double as plastic filters

Plastic eating robots that shit out monopoly money

So Nano?

What if it gently moons.

Wow this has some potential.

Robots are interesting but yeah sounds too intricate.

Depends how long it moons then I guess.

Maybe it's possible to genetically engineer certain microbes so they can consume plastics.
Then again, that might not be a good idea to release that into the wild.

I'm trying to stay away from anything biological, though I'm sure it could work well.

anything that has a good connotations with the environment is usually a scam, a fucking cop out, or just something to get government grants, smart people know trying to better the world is objectively a deficit, havent you played ff7????

Are we the same person?

some japanese guy made up a way to extract the oils from plastics

You too brother? How many LINKs you got, and how serious about this are ya? Maybe we could team up or some shit post-Singularity.

Excellent!

No point in cleaning up while there are countries still dumping millions of tons into the ocean. Maybe if there are smart contract hits on the people allowing the dumping, then something could change.

That already exists, they found a type of plastic eating bacteria in a Japanese landfill and I'm pretty sure they've incorporated this bacteria in geoengineering trails all over the world.

Life is stranger than fiction in regards to some things

Thanks brother will look into

drop me a line when the singularity comes bois

Here's a random link on the subject

Will do thanks frens

I'm going to study zen

One of the few link threads that made me smile, thank you user

Comfy

Thank you fren

I want to improve the planet too. Own 25k link. We can change the world guys

17k. Amature interest at the moment but this is something I want to try and solve once my wageslavery ends. See you on the other side.

Plastic usually floats, not drowns

Good initiative. You can always start small by doing rounds at you're local beach just picking up stranded trash washed ashore to pass the time untill singularity.

This. Make this a rewards program where people who invest into it receive a return. Growing the network out. I’d imagine starting third world shit countries populations that pollute the ocean

OP here, ID probably changed (using a VPN).

I have ~22K LINK so we're all pretty similar. Amateur interest as well, I'd unironically move to a coastal country and pursue this though if I /madeit/. Try to set up an international organization, get funding and the like - I'd go as full autist doing background research as I could, traveling to foreign countries to speak to world renowned scientists (and sightseeing ha) to see if they want to help/their thoughts.

Microplastics could easily be sucked into a machine generating some sort of current

Yeah unfortunately I'm not near a coast but I will try to stay environmentally conscious.

I have travel experience in many parts of Asia so I was even thinking of piloting a plastic waste recycling plant (doesn't have to be huge) at major port cities there (even if we breakeven I'm happy).

I'd like to help clean up the world. Corporations and governments don't seem to care enough. I have enough link to do something productive after link moons.

Such a machine could be sucking things out of the ecosystem useful to animals or animals itself. Its a good idea if it selectively filters.

Yes that's part of the problem, many of the equally microscopic animals (or even just small ones) can be affected.

I wonder how we could differentiate from these animals and microscopic plastics. I had some interesting thoughts that go beyond a simple idea of a net etc., but scientifically they're unproven.

How much LINK ya got?

I'm glad to hear other LINKies are environmentally focused.

Yo fellow Chainlink holder. Here in the Netherlands a guy invented this.

It's a cheap method to remove plastic in rivers. The article is in dutch, so i recommend using google translate.

Thanks my friend - bigmacs on me if this works

Unfortunately this doesn't seem to focus on microplastics which make up the most plastic in the Ocean, though it's still a good tool.

I approve of this shit

lambo pajeets btfo

It's a start however. We should focus on effiective and cheap methods. Governments would be more prone to implement them, than the expensive ones.

Here's maybe a good idea: trying to recover plastic material waste from the ocean is too difficult at present, it might be wiser to pursue plastic filtration at entry points before cleaning the ocean. Better returns on efforts that way, then work on cleaning the ocean after curbing much plastic deposition. I don't know the routes that microplastics enter the ocean, must be a lot from sewage though.

Agreed. The Ocean Cleanup has an interesting tool they are just launching soon/recently launched.

Good idea, defining the problem is definitely important, so entry-ways would be necessary and perhaps having a successful land-based recycling plant would be prudent before trying to make a mobile/sea based one

the rest is going towards travel

gotta soak up some more experiences before my ass expires.

Whatever you do, make a pivotal tracker so we can follow along.

Me too guys, me too. I'll be some remembered like some kind of animal saint

Very interesting idea, the only problem is the NoLinkers post-Singularity

I don't want you guys to find out who I am but eventually I guess I'd have to trade my anonymity for a good cause. I would definitely come back here and recruit though.

Discord or telegram group? Apparently plenty of us want to live for a greater and altruistic cause

to offset your animal activism and keep the natural balance i will be cruel to animals and set up things like dog fighting rings and devise new ways to make factory farming more inhumane

The problem is largely one of scale. There's just so much out there spread out. A mechanical solution to cleaning oceans is just not really feasible at those scales. Maybe in smaller areas like lakes and rivers. It's just really hard to make any sort of realistic solution to microplastics. You really have to focus on prevention or reduction, but good luck getting any sort of action done, even if you had a bunch of money. That's not even getting into the massive amounts of other plastics in the ocean. And that's just the plastic, not to mention all the other crap. Good luck to anyone trying to do something about it.

Same OP!

I will buy a large farm, if possible forrest land and nurture unwanted animals.

Just like Sergey nurtured us when we where in need.

Dear faggot scammer,

Bigmacs, this never works out. Why have you forsaken us? Shilling, niggers, ass - I'll suck your dick for mainnet.

Linkies get all the gets. Cool wine aunt anus smoke smartcontracts.com.

Fuck my feminine boypussy softly.

Mr. Pajeet Memes

xx

Eventually yes definitely

I know it's a mammoth task. Someone has to try to do something though. China banning plastic imports is bullish for this industry anyway.
