I think it has to do with how getting married, founding family and owning a house became harder generally. People in their early/mid twenties back then were literal men but times has changed and so did people. I have no explanation for boomer manchildren though.

Where did you get the idea that I'm implying that? Contrary to the popular belief, not all hobbies are centered around passive consumption of low quality media. There are plenty of productive hobbies that are fun and not just vapid escapism.

Err, that's not how it works exactly. That being said, I do think that learning about history greatly improves your understanding of the world, as it necessitates that you expand your horizons beyond mere historical facts. History is in conjunction with political philosophy, economics, sociology, geopolitics, theory of science, history of art, and many other disciplines that you'll have to dabble in if you want a better understanding of a certain historical period.

Humans only grow through experiences. When you play video games or watch movies all day and night, your memories mush into one and every day feels the same. Eventually you cannot remember highlights of the previous year, and you don't know anything that happened because you never experienced anything.
If you are a NEET and I were to ask you what you did in 2015, you probably cannot give me any life moments. But a normal person who acquired memories and experience, who has grown since then, can tell me exactly what they did in every month of 2015.
