The only way ethereum can work therefore is if ether actually has value. If ether has value, what is the point of 0xbtc? The answer is none except for an inflation hedge.

The guy who made the contract posted on reddit and medium the same day he deployed it in Februrary. There are youtube videos about it from March at least. What unrealistic level of widespread exposure in the first months would convince you that nobody was keeping it a secret to "premine" it? The contract was deployed on February 6th. Bitcointalk thread was created on the same day, so was the Medium article. Subreddit was created the next day and the first thread on Jow Forums about it was on February 14th. It wasn't "secretly mined" by the deployer, you're just not as early as you'd like. But still a lot earlier than most - there's still good money to be made if you set your weird obsessions aside.
