How about a nice, reliable car that costs less than $20,000 that you can driver for 10 or more years? Your net worth is essentially zero and you're looking to buy a car that's going to be sucking down money for the next 5 or 7 years depending on what kind of loan you take. Yup fight the temptation to get a stupid loan OP. You'll have a nice car and no money to go and spend time with friends. The car will suck your life away and on top of that every minor bump and scratch will eat at you and you won't even have to money to fix it or properly maintain it. Trying to escape the loan will be a nightmare because even privately those things move slow and no dealer will pay anywhere close to what you buy it for.

I wish someone told me these things 7 years ago when I made dumb choices with money. Been in similar situations and I can tell you being debt free is a much nicer feeling. Buy a run around and look after it. Don't have to worry if someone bumps into it at the shopping center. Something safe and reliable and you will have money for things like that when you're a little older.

Buy a 20 year old German car desu. The ones I have in mind are Mercedes 190e and Porsche 924. They are still classy and reliable, insurance on classics might be less as well. Don't consider to buy new modern cars, especially with your income. Even if you become rich enough, just lease new cars.
