to have made it Jow Forums? me personally I used to think that 10mill was enough but what with the cost of yachts and jets and island resorts and soon outer space tourism I've had to adjust that number up to 350million. seems like a lot I know but realistically if I make it with crypto then I can turn that into more high power investments like asteroid mining and genetic life extension - you know stuff beyond just online casinos
Depends on how old you are imo. I’m 23yo (soon 24) and have 700k that I earned myself with a 100-200k yearly income (excluding investments). I feel like I’ve made it because most people my age don’t have that kind of money unless they have rich parents. I live a pretty comfy lifestyle and I feel like I don’t have to worry about money. If I really want something (e.g. a new laptop) I just buy it, I go on nice vacations, I eat out when I feel like it, I wear nice clothes, I have a good apartment, I have a personal trainer that helps me get fit etc. Sure, I can’t afford a yacht, a Lamborghini and a chateau in France, but I honestly don’t really care about that stuff. My life wouldn’t really change much if my net worth was 3.5 MM.

I have a job but its just an internship since im still in college so it pays like 15/hr and I just can't live like this
that makes no sense
not even remotely close, but at least you're doing fine this is no larp thread

even most boomers don't have more than 50k or so in non real estate based net worth so you're doing pretty well tbqh
Money is one of the most powerful human forces in this world, but family is actually the most powerful.
Strong culture, strong genes, strong tradition. If you can implement these succesfully throughout each generation you will outlast virtually everyone else, but its much easier said than done.
Another component of this is once you reach a certain financial bracket, if your offspring become aware of their relative financial position, they can get introduced to the negative affects of hyper-wealth too early.
I'm not wealthy by any means, and have missed out on many opportunities, but it seems raising your children in austerity, then leaving them with an "allowance" based trust after your death is the most practical way.
Otherwise the temptation of "anything you want, when you want it." will undo just about anyone, regardless of how well you try to parent them.

Theres an observation that after a certain point money actually has a diminsihing-returns affect on the individual. I.E. the outcome of making $120,000 versus $100,000 is much smaller than $10,000 vs $20,000
Jacob Kelly
honestly don't care about my offspring, I just want my life to be good

I’m not larping. It’s a little sad that you assume somewhat successful = Larp. Pro tip: anime and a minimum wage job aren’t the best ways to make it.

22. Sitting on about 330k mostly real estate and stocks. Made 92k last year. Just got back from a sex marathon in Prague. I drive a used panamera. Wear mostly nice clothes and have some nice watches. I have a pretty cool apartment. I don't see my life getting that much better until I hit around 10 million. I'll probably be around 50 by then and won't give a shit about private planes and fucking models. Picture related from the city square.
Enough to be financially independent and work on whatever pet project you desire.

100% agree.

You gotta say how you've made it. that's like a given

Made most of it from online poker and non-crypto investments. Now I’m in college studying econ/BM and play poker part time. Sounds good. And I agree. Unless you really like to blow money (I don’t at all) then the difference between having, 300k, 500k and 2MM isn’t that big in terms of quality of life.

Pic related is last 14 months or so for those of you who assume I'm larping.. Online poker is tax free in my country.
sorry user, maybe I'm just jealous. if you're really that good at poker then you earned it! also: obviously anime and minimum wage are unrelated to my plans to accumulate wealth

It was just banter. A (good) internship is a great long term investment. Good luck!
What is your usual strategy. Do you play cash games with heaps of tables going? Honestly thought the online poker golden age ended a long time ago.

I want enough shares of stock that I can live off of dividends alone

The “golden age” did end several years ago. Online poker has gotten extremely competitive. It’s still possible to make 6 figs, but you have to be really talented and study really hard. And even then, it will most likely take you years of practice. I wouldn’t advise anyone to try to make is a pro nowadays. Almost everyone fails and the games might be (almost) dead in 5 years because of AI, cloud computing, solvers, bots etc. I don’t want to say what games I play (don’t want to dox my screen name), but the most profitable/easiest (it’s not easy though) games for new players nowadays are probably tournaments, Omaha and spin n gos.

Top study suggestions? I understand basics such as pot odds, betting position.

A good training site (e.g. Runitonce) and pokertracker. Just buy a 1 month subscription and download all the videos with a chrome add on. Start at micro stakes and don’t move up NO MATTER WHAT until you’re a winner over a significant sample, e.g. a few k sngs or 20k cash game hands. Move down (even if you think you’re good enough) if you can’t beat a stake. Even though you’re playing for pocket change you should take it very seriously. Emotional control is also extremely important. As you probably know, it can be difficult to quit when you’re down and playing bad. In the beginning you should focus on learning, not on maximizing your hands/hour. Don’t play a ton of tables. Review your hands after a session (note the most difficult hands while you play). Always question your assumptions about what is the correct play. You might think X is “standard” play (and perhaps it is), but why not do Y, Z or even X with that hand? Even if you come to the conclusion that X really is athe best play, you’ll learn a lot by thinking about all the options in a spot.

Actually solid advice, thank you. My poker experience was turning $10 into $100 in the smallest games and then losing it all on the first higher tier game i played. I think i'll do it more seriously this time with a view to improve (i have never reviewed previous hands).

about $54mil for personally operated social-good operations, up to $2.4bl for good ideas beyond the means of my skill set, around $750,000 for my family, max. ~8mil. anything more than that and greed/personal interest would take over. figures not adjusted for future inflation

it's my belief that when you die you should have no unaccounted for wealth / spoilage. ideally everything is disbursed to loved ones before passing, but, having a will in the event of unforeseen circumstances is sufficient as well

No problem. As I said, online poker is very competitive nowadays. It’s by no means easy money. It will most likely take you a few months to become a consistent winner at micro stakes. Try to think of it as a video game where you’re trying to beat everyone else (in the long run). Every hand is a puzzle that you have to solve. Do your very best in every hand and try to come up with optimal solution to the puzzle. You should care more about making the correct play than the outcome of the hand. I’m unironically angry at myself sometimes if I played bad during a session even if I made a lot of money.
