Because Thailand is cheap and has a robust tourism infrastructure. India, in comparison, doesn't get nearly as many foreign tourists--especially relative to its size and overall population--because it's less developed and has fewer amenities that making travel planning easy.

Plane flight is expensive right? Why should they act like cheapskates then when theyre here then? Also less tourism this year. 1€ is like 33 baht and not 40 like last year. We are improving more. Maybe we should increase entry prices for sight to x20 instead of x10 compared to native Thai.

IME, most people don't want a "genuine experience." A "genuine experience" for most backpackers is hostel-hopping around highly touristic cities, socializing almost exclusively with other Western tourists and having overly simplistic conversations with "poor" locals whose language they never bothered learning.
