It's not edgy. After owning a number of dogs, you eventually stop getting emotionally attached to them. I still have fun with my dog and I even use it for emotional support, but I am not attached to it.

What breed? Some breeds can live a very long time. And if you want a pet that will live a long time (and even possibly outlive you) get a parrot or a tortoise next time.
