Belgium is fundamentally a counter-revolutionary state. If you want to look for a country that hates its history look for France.
Modern France (the "république") is a country of concrete banlieues and roundabouts, because revolutionaries destroyed its history, destroyed its land, its patois, its people and are destroying the churches.
Belgium has still its local cultures because it rejected centralization, secularism and republicanism. The problem with Belgium is *precisely* due to local cultures still existing and were not "blended in" into some made-up national culture like in France (or Germany), so maintained themselves and compete.
Now the problem with the destruction of folklore and patrimony in Belgium is due to freemasons who have french revolutionary ideas (they consider anything medieval as "backward" and to be destroyed for progress).
