They're programmed ants and sure there's a lot of factors. Maybe their parents were hard workers or they have a smart boss that knows how to motivate them while also knowing how to keep them grounded. I think there's genetic memory involved in it if you ask me.

Everyone I knew was super supportive desu, you get the odd NPC that can't compute the idea that every business, including the one they work in, was started by someone. Yet they still find it weird when you tell them you are starting something.
Also a lot of negative feedback is just thinly veiled insecurity and jealousy, crab mentality is very real.
Also, people don't seem to understand that the only way to acquire the skills of running a business is to actually run one so they use an unrealistic metric in judging you.
There is also the possibility that their criticisms are fair so it's worth thinking properly about that too

Maybe its just lack of creativity? I noticed NPCs don‘t have that or in a very limited way so maybe they just can‘t imagine a better life.
