What will happen to Hong Kong?

You tell me David
just gonna be swallowed by china mainland
they are chinese it's ok
Hong Kong is NOT China
at the moment it is not, but many fear that in the not too distant future it's autonomy will have been reduced to effectively municipal BS while everything else is decided in Beijing.
Trump looks indifferent about this issue so you tell me
Now that China has proven those """""protests""""" were the work of agitators linked to the US, peace will come back.
Regardless of its future, it's great that Hong Kong's existence makes commies SEETHE so violently.
china will take over after tiananmen 2.0
2047 isn't that far
sadly this
HK is already basically 100% irrelevant and unneeded for China in the great scheme of things. They will be allowed to stew in their own juices until 2047, then China will do a direct comparison to Shenzen next door and say "well, this is what hyper-capitalism with external interference looks like - negative figures in all measurable categories. Let this be a lesson to all you kiddies... the bad man Brits did a Stockholm syndrome on your little brother. We tried to help them, but their grip was too strong. but don't worry, we won't let HK rot to death, come back to mama."
Shanghai is far ahead, Shenzhen is already edging ahead. Guangzhou is catching fast. Hong Kong can't get a single bill through due to the opposition parties. They will only fall from here.
>HK is already basically 100% irrelevant and unneeded for China in the great scheme of things
Wrong. It's need for the Chinese dream, AKA the true unification of China and all her lost territoty. There is nothing you can do to stop it.
Would you advise tourists against visiting the canals at night?
Beijing won’t do anything drastic against the protests because it could give international support to Trump’s trade war, but the protestors have no chance of achieving anything either. Basically China has come to terms with Hong Kong destroying itself and while the protestors might suspect that what they are doing is pointless and prejudicial to the city, they are far enough in the ideological retardation that they consider any harm to China a win for themselves.
Based retard stuck 40 years in the past.
soon completly annexed by china
HK'ers are basically hobbyist protesters. There are about 40 marches a year (because we can.) It is a smooth and well-oiled process. That is why the current unrest looks so starkly artificially created in contrast.
The whole "violent action" doesn't generally kick off until after 9pm, at designated protest areas/police stations where rioters are being held. Other than that, don't look like you are protesting violently, don't go looking for trouble, and check the news before you go anywhere, you should be alright.
...that's right, they are fully guaranteed to get that in 2047. They can wait, so no point in causing damage to their intl. reputation and bring in the army.
Until then, it is a case study and a cautionary tale to scare the other 1 billion citizens to the dangers of "foreign interference" and "flawed systems of government" (not implying that the Chinese system is better in any way, shape or form. Just showing their working.)
It was a Deus Ex reference, my man. In the game, police in HK tells the main character that it isn't advisable for tourists to visit the canals at night.
