Working "at the same job" is not the same as "working the same job"
A man and women could both work at the same workplace but do different positions that have different pays. Men work jobs that women don't want/can't so they get paid more.
Example: A car mechanic will earn more than the person who works the front desk at the same job. Guess who typically works what.

Non-meme answer: in a lot of countries, when a female employee gets pregnant, she is entitled to maternity leave until several weeks after she gave birth, paid for by the employer. Often, companies will try and balance the "lost" money by deflating their women employee's salary.
