The depression/misery thread

Let's talk about being depressed and miserable.
Do you know any depressed person?
Why is suicide more common in asian countries, even the developed ones like South Korea and Japan?
Are you depressed? Why?

>Do you know any depressed person?

i'm depressed bcause my dream can't become true

>Why is suicide more common in asian countries, even the developed ones like South Korea and Japan?
Le rebirfing into a better life

suicide is common as fuck in india because families report honor killings and murder as suicide

>Depressed mood may not require professional treatment, and may be a normal temporary reaction to life events, a symptom of some medical condition, or a side effect of some drugs or medical treatments.
>
>The UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) 2009 guidelines indicate that antidepressants should not be routinely used for the initial treatment of mild depression, because the risk-benefit ratio is poor.[36] Physical activity can have a protective effect against the emergence of depression.[37]

>Reminiscence of old and fond memories is another alternative form of treatment, especially for the elderly who have lived longer and have more experiences in life. It is a method that causes a person to recollect memories of their own life, leading to a process of self-recognition and identifying familiar stimuli. By maintaining one’s personal past and identity, it is a technique that stimulates people to view their lives in a more objective and balanced way, causing them to pay attention to positive information in their life stories, which would successfully reduce depressive mood levels.[38]

Had depression since 13.
I'm 27 now.

Not sure if I have depression but I've been feeling like shit the last months. I moved to Québec the last couple of months ago. I can't talk French nor I have any friends here. These are the most loneliest days of my life, the only people I've talked with are anglophones who pretend to be your friend. Sometimes I spend days without talking to anyone. Right now I'm thinking on taking french classes so maybe I can meet québécois.

I failed socialization and am unfit for any well paid job, guess I will suffer

definitely learn french so you can make some friends

i failed that too

Why did you have depression?

Yes, sometimes at 4am I make posts about it

I haven't felt a genuine emotion since 2016. It's like I'm living in a different reality. Never thought it would get this bad but there's no choice but to keep going.

I still have it.
I'm not sure what caused it.
It's probably genetic, my whole family has it

are you two seeing a therapist?

No, just had to learn to cope.
To fucked up to fix at this point.

You think things will get better soon?

I'm on meds. Have been on them since 14.
tried a bunch of them.
They help, but just a bit

It's not really a thing therapy would heal. I'm waiting to try MAO Inhibitors since I've tried pretty much every simpler option.

Therapy on top of medication can help.
What about that new medication? Spravato I think it's called.
You take it once every week and you're golden.
You'll have to cut a bunch of foods if you start taking MAOIs.

I haven't heard of it.
>Esketamine was introduced for medical use in 1997.[1] In 2019, it was approved for use with other antidepressants, for the treatment of depression in adults in the United States.[6] The cost of the nasal spray as of 2019 will be US$4,700 to $6,800 for the first month.
Interesting. I don't know if insurance could pay for it but thanks for letting me know.
>You'll have to cut a bunch of foods if you start taking MAOIs.
I mean, all food tastes the same if you're depressed anyways

>Interesting. I don't know if insurance could pay for it but thanks for letting me know.
No problems. This thing seems to work even in cases where electroshock has failed, and electroshock is the most effective treatment for depression there is.

>I mean, all food tastes the same if you're depressed anyways
i guess. you'll have to be a bit careful tho
