The smartcontract.com oracle still works on ethereum main net...does anyone know the address so we can look at events and dig there?

right, ethereum is going to make an ERC standard for oracles, and that will probably spawn a bunch of projects like it did for plasma sidechains, and will almost certainly not require a middleman token for operation, and definitely not one that's already had their ICO like link.

looks like they're on their own and will have to try and be relevant for private networks.

>it looks like the main the difference you're seeing when comparing the price with metadata to the price without metadata is due to the gas pricing of Ethereum, not the difference in proposed interfaces. Typically in Ethereum usage costs more, and that's always the case when sending data in a transaction. Changing that is probably outside the scope of this PR, so I think it'd be more insightful to stick to 1:1 comparisons
