I know this has been posted in the past but watch this thread as it is a continued discussion about ethereum oracle standards. Key people in the conversation - Steve Ellis Johnny Huxtable Denis Milicevic - (oraclize) twitter.com/_DenisM_? Alan Lu - Gnosis
The smartcontract.com oracle still works on ethereum main net...does anyone know the address so we can look at events and dig there?
Noah Scott
right, ethereum is going to make an ERC standard for oracles, and that will probably spawn a bunch of projects like it did for plasma sidechains, and will almost certainly not require a middleman token for operation, and definitely not one that's already had their ICO like link.
looks like they're on their own and will have to try and be relevant for private networks.

i dont understand what does this mean for chainlink
I’m guessing because of the high level of understanding, intelligence, optimism, ambition, and civility on display.

>it looks like the main the difference you're seeing when comparing the price with metadata to the price without metadata is due to the gas pricing of Ethereum, not the difference in proposed interfaces. Typically in Ethereum usage costs more, and that's always the case when sending data in a transaction. Changing that is probably outside the scope of this PR, so I think it'd be more insightful to stick to 1:1 comparisons BTFO The Chinlink alpha nerds brutally dismembering all challengers, as per usual.
