I don't know where else to post this without being sued or arrested or whatever these horrible people would try to do for me for releasing this information, so here goes. First post on Jow Forums by the way, so, cheers to that.
Anyway, here's some context. Around 9am this morning as we were walking in to work (talking about Kraken here btw) our key fobs were confiscated from all of us and put into a plastic bin by armed security and we were escorted outside where we were told we would receieve more information in the moments to come. At this point my coworkers and I are sitting here like "what the fuck is going on?" in my 2 years at Kraken nothing like this has ever happened so I too am in shock.
Basically, after sitting outside for a good 3 hours surrounded by black SUVs and armed security we were brought into the cafeteria area where we were basically all fired. The reasoning? A lay-off due to lower exchange volume and budget plans which didn't work anymore considering the new location in Singapore.
At this point I know something's up. This entire week I was hearing rumors here and there that Bitcoin was missing from our cold/hot wallets, but I had no idea how many or if it was just some sort of glitch. However today, all anyone was talking about was how 100K+ Bitcoin were missing from our cold wallet and being tumbled/sent all over the place to hide the trail. My belief is that Kraken is keeping this as quiet as possible as to not tarnish their repuation or cause a panic among the cryptocurrency communities, but at this point I'm out of a job and have only a very small severance check each month to show for all of my hard work I've done so I'm done playing stupid for them.
I'm assuming we were all fired or let go temporarily so they can cooporate with the authorities in a proper investigation and keep things under wraps as much as possible.
I still have no confirmation on where these rumors came from regarding the missing Bitcoin. Everything is being kept very secret.

This is a highly secretive industry. We can be robbed at gun point for hundreds of millions of dollars, disgruntled investors can come and murder people, anything. At any cryptocurrency exchange you would be terminated immediately for releasing any information regarding the facilities location that includes picture and video.
When we were outside, being fired wasn't on any of our minds. We just assumed something bad had happened, so of course none of us would go and take our phones out right in front of our managers and multiple security.
