Yeah, they're very similar, though Rusyn has its peculiarities. But it's very easy for me to understand. By the way, why are you learning it? Modern day Rusyn language is by no means pure, and has multiple dialects specific to the regions that different groups of Rusyns inhabit. For example, the language of Rusyns living in Slovakia will be very influenced by the Slovak language. Of course I don't mean it as an insult, the entire obsession with linguistic purity is literal unadulterated autism.
