I realize Germany treats employees like humans but marketing was overly stressful bullshit and the little free time you had is ruined by constantly checking emails and still being stressed about work

We had a similar thing where every idiot flooded into data science because of machine learning, then they all got dumped into low paying analyst jobs. It's a meme already on its way out here. That said, as a doctor, i admit medicine is trash. A waste of time. So shit nobody hires doctors, and where they are needed nobody is willing to pay them. They are profitable in the US only because it's impossible to go through the curriculum wall that residency schools demand, since education itself is the bigger business and average students mean bad advertising.

Really depends where you are. Here on average its 55-60k starting (barely enough to live in big cities) to 130k with high position jobs. Before I left the field I promised if I stayed I'd never be one of those corporate execs flying around all day with no personal life

If your degree is business administration rather than actually marketing you have a wide variety of business fields you're qualified enough for. I just used my BSc to start the IT MSc so I wouldn't say it was a huge waste of money, just a waste of time

No marketing is inherently garbage compared to a regular business degree. You do more maths and statistics stuff than in marketing and do more economic courses. Marketing is a meme like arts degree now. At least with business it takes longer to finish a degree and most people quit before finishing it.

That city is going bankrupt by the way, like most other Swedish cities. The system has cancer and it's not going to stop. When the next financial crisis hits us, shit will get austere.

I've spent a lot of time in America. There is no greater country on this Earth. Your strip malls aren't what makes it great though. You can come here and gawk at the picturesque buildings all you want (those that survived anyway; most were torn down to make room for commieblocks in the 1960s). When the honeymoon is over and reality sets in, it's not so sweet anymore when you realize that the freedoms you once took for granted are gone and all that you're left with is a shoebox apartment in a commie block far outside the historical center, and an income already meager looted by oppressive taxation that you can't support a family on. I've seen it happen. Don't project your fantasies so hard. There's nothing wrong with a bit of romanticism, but romantic notions are supposed to be about what you want life to be, not delusions of what life is.

Sweden is OK in many ways, for now. It is certainly better than most of the world, but that is true for all western countries. We're living on borrowed time and dime though. That's the main problem. The sheepish nature of the tax livestock that we have in this country who support this awful system doesn't make it any better. I'll say this for our national character though: we are innovative and we are entrepreneurial. That's what kept us afloat. There is a reason that basically all the great companies and entrepreneurs that we do produce leave for America (or other less oppressive countries) sooner or later though. Ours is not the kind of system you want; one that forces good people out. That causes stagnation and drives away wealth and various kinds of capital (neither of which is not the same as money). It's happened time and time again. Any "Swedish" company you could think of has already left or been sold to foreign interests, long ago. They only retain a Swedish brand, like Volvo famously does, despite no longer being Swedish. I guess I shouldn't fault you for your thinking though, because Sweden does have a strong brand (again though: for the time being), as do many other countries in Europe.

Life in America, to a much greater extent than it is here, is what you make of it. Swedes don't know the meaning of the word "liberty". Literally, there is no Swedish word for liberty. Swedes don't understand the concept.

That's what we've been doing since the 1970s. It got a little better since the policies of the dark days of the 70s and 80s, after the our financial crisis in the 1990s (which was caused by policies that are typically lauded by left-leaning people in America). But not by much. It's still awful and drives away every major player we produce.

Sweden is a country where you are oppressively taxed at 53% (on average), where 37% of households consist of one person in a small flat, where freedom of speech is a lie, where you can't defend your life and property from invaders that your government has invited to your home, and where you can't even buy a god damned beer after 3 P.M. on a Saturday because the government store is closed. (Yes, the government owns and operates all liquor stores here; supermarkets and such are not allowed to sell real beer).

Law school is a meme. it's one of the most expensive professional degrees in all the US education with terrible job prospects.
