It's a /sci/ meme. Unironically general STEM fields by most to least useful for the graduate is tech (except CS lol) > engineering > science (CS is not science) >>>>> math

>Syria

>PhD in mathematics

Sounds like BS but ok.

All those degrees will be worthless when automation becomes mainstream.

>leaf education
Iraq
A lot of it, especially programming and medicine. IT, specifically security probably has the best future

What are STEM fields? Over here in Germany jewish fields like marketing or anything finance related will earn you the most money and benefits. That's one of the the reasons why I choose Marketing.

Do people who work in Marketing earn much cash in the US?

Actually Iraq

MSc in AI
software companies are literally begging developers to work for them
too many variables

CS is a science in Germany.

I'm in marketing (have a BSc) and hated it so much I fucked off to IT and am doing a master's for it currently. I realize Germany treats employees like humans but marketing was overly stressful bullshit and the little free time you had is ruined by constantly checking emails and still being stressed about work

absolutely unequivocally based

CS here is code (haha get it) for programming which isn't science. Information systems covers the rest of non-IT/programming tech stuff generally

>IT
Too bad pajeets will fill all the job quotas including security lol

Marketing is so disgusting. t.forced to take several marketing courses over the course of my business degree.

>an*me

We had a similar thing where every idiot flooded into data science because of machine learning, then they all got dumped into low paying analyst jobs. It's a meme already on its way out here. Really anyone who's going to have success with AI are the programmers who automated most of their jobs, ie the ones who won't be unemployed in 5-10 years

Do you know Texas Instruments? They have their european headquarters in my region (Bavaria) and they are still searching guys for their marketing team. I thought about applying to that job when I am done but reading that makes me think twice about that. How much did you earn in Marketing?

If you're an uneducated help desk jockey sure, even then there's help desk jobs way above pajeet level
Business is disgusting. Marketing is just business + statistics, advertising is the true cancer

Norgay.
BSc in CS.
I don't know, I went straight into NEETdom as soon as I graduated.
$0.

>Medicine
Too expensive to make a bunch of sensors for really simple shit, considering doctors are needed most in rural, poor areas.

That said, as a doctor, i admit medicine is trash. A waste of time. So shit nobody hires doctors, and where they are needed nobody is willing to pay them. They are profitable in the US only because it's impossible to go through the curriculum wall that residency schools demand, since education itself is the bigger business and average students mean bad advertising.

Really depends where you are. Here on average its 55-60k starting (barely enough to live in big cities) to 130k with high position jobs. Before I left the field I promised if I stayed I'd never be one of those corporate execs flying around all day with no personal life

If your degree is business administration rather than actually marketing you have a wide variety of business fields you're qualified enough for. I just used my BSc to start the IT MSc so I wouldn't say it was a huge waste of money, just a waste of time

No marketing is inherently garbage compared to a regular business degree. You do more maths and statistics stuff than in marketing and do more economic courses. Marketing is a meme like arts degree now. At least with business it takes longer to finish a degree and most people quit before finishing it.

Same. It's really hard to get a job I don't understand why. I have a degree. Employers don't care.

I'm a sysadmin, never done anything even remotely related to AI professionally kek, treated that masters program like a hobby

Okay mate I’m in administration too and working to get my honours bachelor since I’m doing an extra year. Working in marketing is still shit at least here in Toronto.

Too much competiton, everybody is doing CS now.

My master's currently is pretty easy for me, for some reason our readings got a lot fucking harder and more technical (especially for our level) but apparently nobody reads them and assignments never reference them so everyone just watched YouTube videos to cover the basic concepts

>two sentences explaining what a database is
>now here's 18 poorly explained diagrams and extremely technical bullshit for 36 pages you'll never need to Know

It's also extremely ageist but even the jobs themselves are awful, programmers in generals empirically don't like their jobs but these are also the workplaces mostly likely to be ruined by female diversity hires putting bullshit like open office layouts and Pingpong tables (latter so people think they should be grateful and not ask for raises or benefits) in

Doesn't sound too bad actually considering I hardly ever coded and am insecure about my competence once I get a job after finishing my bachelor.

Bateman wasnt a m*rketer.

Many people in your position making similar money but they have student loan debt. you didnt miss much by not getting a degree

What’s he gonna do when his job gets sent to SEA or is automated?

He was corporate which is nearly the same thing at manager and higher levels. The cons of marketing are the same as the rest of business, just it's the only discipline that pays well

>tfw cs degree
am teaching of all things jfmsuf

I'm wasn't a marketer.

If you have any means of not paying loans off your entire life (basically don't use a shady company for a useless degree/get someone to fund you) it's easily worth it. Yes loans are a huge scam but I'd kill myself if I was doing extremely monotonous brainlet work 8+ hours a day for unlivable pay

Explain what your job was then.

true, but specializations are still in high demand. Data scientists, cloud specialists, and AI researchers are lacking according to the ACM newsletter that I got.

Data science is already oversaturated, see

I made a lot of PowerPoint presentations.

Good job.

So I'm the one doing a master's in IT and specializing in cybersec, my dream is basically
>be allowed to work from home
>go to work for 3-4 hours because I need to get out of the house and not be distracted
>do all of my work under copious amounts of caffeine and other stimulants
>after the 3-4 hours I just tell my boss I'm finishing my work at home
>do nothing for the rest of the day
Someone besides Gothenburg's isolated experiment needs to push for a six hour workday again, the issue largely being if I'm working for four hours businesses will do all they can to pay me for only four and essentially make overtime mandatory to make a enough money to live on.

Hopefully I'll make it to Europe at some point where workers are at least acknowledged as people

Paid the bills and then some. But man, it's fucking soulless bullshit with lots of travel and late nights. All the people around you are severely prestige-oriented and ladder-climbing fucks with a sense of self-importance that is only matched by their condescending and womanly demeanor despite the constant pressures to deliver. Half the time I delivered something I felt like I just robbed someone.

Do you want 53% of your earnings to go to taxes? Btw, it's much more if you actually have a good job (which doesn't pay nearly as much as any decent job in America).

Yes because the taxes benefit me as a citizen instead of being dumped into the military

No they don't. Most of it is wasted on complete nonsense and maintaining oppressive structures such as various government monopolies.

Did you forget you're one of the countries with the highest quality of life in the world? Go show me a picture of somewhere populated in Sweden you'd consider poor or run down, I guarantee it's better than most of what we have

>Did you forget you're one of the countries with the highest quality of life in the world?
In spite of oppressive taxation and state intervention, not because of it.
>Go show me a picture of somewhere populated in Sweden you'd consider poor or run down, I guarantee it's better than most of what we have
Of course it would be. That doesn't mean that it makes sense to steal from people and give it to niggers or to waste it on utter nonsense.

Now show me any place in Sweden that has the same quality of life and wealth as the wealthiest places in America. It doesn't exist.

Wow I have a bigger house now all my problems are fixed

There's good jobs for pure maths in algorhymic trading. I know of a private SME firm that makes a consistent return on sports betting using big data.

Money solves your money problems, the rest you have to solve by other means. The government usually solves no problems, but rather creates them.

USA
High school, will be done with electrical engineering bachelors this fall and start phd next fall in optics/lasers
From what ive heard it is in demand so it shouldnt be too hard to get a job unless shit is automated by the time im done with degrees
Median salary is $120k in the US, probably higher for those with the phd

And in Sweden/Germanic Europe in general you live like an actual human even with a low income, here you're in an undeveloped soulless shithole with a plywood house or the same thing but a tacky mansion. I remember multiple times a swede posting pictures of Malmö going "look how bad it is here omg" and it was still nicer than even good parts of our cities

>And in Sweden/Germanic Europe in general you live like an actual human even with a low income
You can live like an animal in a pen, in an oppressive system which serves nothing but itself and whatever fetishes manifest within its corrupt institutions. Lately, it seems to want to commit suicide though. It's actually pretty awful.

>here you're in an undeveloped soulless shithole with a plywood house or the same thing but a tacky mansion. I remember multiple times a swede posting pictures of Malmö going "look how bad it is here omg" and it was still nicer than even good parts of our cities
It's not better than the good parts of your cities. Not even by a long shot. Malmö has some OK parts but that doesn't excuse it. That city is going bankrupt by the way, like most other Swedish cities. The system has cancer and it's not going to stop. When the next financial crisis hits us, shit will get austere.

I mean if you consider this plus living in a cardboard house that needs a car to get anywhere because the entire country is copy pasted stripmalls and highways comfortable or a high quality of life you might actually have brain damage. The built up cities are also built exclusively for cars

Go read anecdotes from people who lived in both Europe and the US for extended periods if you don't believe me

Forgot picture. This is 99% of the country, just swap desert for forest for places that aren't the southwest

Attached: ewscripps.brightspotcdn.com.jpg (1280x720, 214K)

I've spent a lot of time in America. There is no greater country on this Earth. Your strip malls aren't what makes it great though. You can come here and gawk at the picturesque buildings all you want (those that survived anyway; most were torn down to make room for commieblocks in the 1960s). When the honeymoon is over and reality sets in, it's not so sweet anymore when you realize that the freedoms you once took for granted are gone and all that you're left with is a shoebox apartment in a commie block far outside the historical center, and an income already meager looted by oppressive taxation that you can't support a family on. I've seen it happen. Don't project your fantasies so hard. There's nothing wrong with a bit of romanticism, but romantic notions are supposed to be about what you want life to be, not delusions of what life is.

People here meme about this, but the higher up you move in a tech field, the more mathematical it gets. Someone with a PhD related to statistics could definitely make $300k per year

You're accusing me of doing exactly what you're doing, the difference at the end of the day again is you're still one of the best countries in the world while everything here is extremely rundown and undeveloped because every retard was convinced they needed a house in the suburbs, it was only recently we realized this was an awful way to live. Legitimately I don't know what the fuck is making you think it's so great here besides your own self deprecation; I tried to convince myself for years Europe wasn't better and everyone is just cherrypicking and lying but after countless visits and endless research I was wrong

It's fucking shit here, you're just bored of your life and think any change is an upgrade

I'm talking about the deeper issues and you keep talking about surface level phenomenons, related to aesthetics mostly. The aesthetics aren't enough. Besides, Sweden has lots of extremely ugly places, all over. Trust me: living in some peripheral commieblock is a much worse life than life in any of your typical suburbs. Again, do not confuse the honeymoon for the life.

Sweden is OK in many ways, for now. It is certainly better than most of the world, but that is true for all western countries. We're living on borrowed time and dime though. That's the main problem. The sheepish nature of the tax livestock that we have in this country who support this awful system doesn't make it any better. I'll say this for our national character though: we are innovative and we are entrepreneurial. That's what kept us afloat. There is a reason that basically all the great companies and entrepreneurs that we do produce leave for America (or other less oppressive countries) sooner or later though. Ours is not the kind of system you want; one that forces good people out. That causes stagnation and drives away wealth and various kinds of capital (neither of which is not the same as money). It's happened time and time again. Any "Swedish" company you could think of has already left or been sold to foreign interests, long ago. They only retain a Swedish brand, like Volvo famously does, despite no longer being Swedish. I guess I shouldn't fault you for your thinking though, because Sweden does have a strong brand (again though: for the time being), as do many other countries in Europe.

Life in America, to a much greater extent than it is here, is what you make of it. Swedes don't know the meaning of the word "liberty". Literally, there is no Swedish word for liberty. Swedes don't understand the concept.

>businesses move where they make more money so the country is better to live in
I'm not going to convince you and you won't me, what I will say is live in an average suburb here for a month and see if you still like

>Bachelors
>Decent in my niche
>65k here

To get one you need to study finance or business and get an MBA from an Ivy league school. If you don't go to an Ivy you'll never stand a chance getting hired on Wall Street.
Plus, mergers and acquisitions sucks,it's boring as hell. Patrick's life would be miserable if he was real

Businesses are not abstract monoliths; they are extensions of people. Businesses and the people who run and operate them the creators of wealth. When you drive them away, you're driving away wealth. That's what we've been doing since the 1970s. It got a little better since the policies of the dark days of the 70s and 80s, after the our financial crisis in the 1990s (which was caused by policies that are typically lauded by left-leaning people in America). But not by much. It's still awful and drives away every major player we produce.

Sweden is a country where you are oppressively taxed at 53% (on average), where 37% of households consist of one person in a small flat, where freedom of speech is a lie, where you can't defend your life and property from invaders that your government has invited to your home, and where you can't even buy a god damned beer after 3 P.M. on a Saturday because the government store is closed. (Yes, the government owns and operates all liquor stores here; supermarkets and such are not allowed to sell real beer).

kek yeah you are delusional pablo

Good job prospects assuming I want to work in a local or state government. My dream is to work in the DOJ though

Law school is a meme. it's one of the most expensive professional degrees in all the US education with terrible job prospects.
Imagine paying 200k not including cost of living and interest to make 50k a year working in a DA's office, or being extremely lucky and working in a corporate job and making 160k a year but working 80 hours a week.
I shiggy diggy.

i just thought it was what most politicans do, or maybe just higher ups. i wouldnt do that shit im already in a comfy field

Wish me luck, bros

Less and less members of congress are getting law degrees, and the ones that do are already rich or have political ties already

ah, ive also heard unless you are in a top law school it usually is not worth it. all i know is my old roommate is planning on going to law school and maybe trying to become a judge eventually but is going to a mid tier school and doesnt have great connections so im not sure it will turn out so great kek

I wanna do that but in Asia
You need to do grad school for that?
