I can't wait for America to stop trade with China. Then the rest of the world. You need us, we don't need you.
I can't wait for America to stop trade with China. Then the rest of the world. You need us, we don't need you
Hi Jow Forums
>how to crash the world economy in one easy step
What the fuck is it with you retards and trade wars? We need more free trade, not less of it. Fewer tariffs, fewer regulations, and fewer taxes is the way to go.
Fuck the world
Fucking the world will fuck America too ya dumbass.
America should enter a stage of isolatism for 500 years, to develop their own unique culture and race
>isolatism
sry for my bad england
funniest thing is tariffs are a tax on the countries citizens not foreign actors. but retards cheer for getting taxed in their pathetic red hat.
No hay problema
Very brainlet post, read up on mercantilism
it's ok but definitely try to improve your great britain if you can
Trump is blasting the shit out of free traders- unemployment is at all time lows, the market breaking all time highs.
lol you can't possibly be serious.
Pic and video related.
The idea is that the tariff will pressure the business to go domestic instead.
lol. if trade actually stopped overnight there would be a meltdown and chaos over the price of basic goods
Sounds pretty rad.
China would be nothing without us exploiting them for cheap labor. And the middle class and upper class in china is a very tiny part of the population. The majority is still peasant farmers.
Mercantilism is literally just retard economics.
If the business is not competitive enough back home to stay in operation then it shouldn't be domestic. Comparative advantage isn't something to be ashamed of, specialization is a good thing when free trade is embraced between nations.
I am. it worked as long as you dont debase your own cúrrency by being a retarded Spaniard
ok thank you
We don't need you filthy mutts. The US needs China. The way things are going soon the US will only have a trade relationship with beaners and leafs, thus becoming the third world shithole that they were meant to be
>muh competitiveness
shut the fuck up with that buzzword basedboy
Being economically illiterate is not something to be proud of user.
2020 americas foreign policy will change anyways
well mathematically any tariffs can only have negative impact on the gdp of a country.
it destroys the economic relations based on comparative advantage. because there is no way the other country will not respond to tariffs with tariffs this has zero chance of happening. so you reduce the overall trade and mess up comparative advantage based net plus to the world economy and your share of it. it's just full retard.
it would take decades for industry to redevelop in US borders, and in the mean time you wouldn't be able to lurk or post on Jow Forums because things like phones, laptops, computers, and all manner of housewares from microwaves to furniture would be inaccessible to you, and your time will instead be spent digging through landfills with dozens of other people to find basic stuff to maintain the disposable lifestyle you are accustomed to. internet speeds would drop significantly as server hardware costs skyrocketed, infrastructure development slows to a crawl as car parts and other industrial appliances also increase in price. you think people in the united states are anywhere near as willing to work as long and hard for as cheaply as they do in china? are you willing to work 16 hour days in a male dormitory seven days a week assembling parts for a car stereo? people can barely hold down a cashier job here, it would be a nightmare
>he thinks that real ai can be achieved in the next 100 years
lmao, you will only have things that imitate human behaviour
Why does your GDP matter if you're not participating in the global economy? There's no one to compare your GDP to.
Imitating human behavior is good enough for most people.
O rly?
user, GDP doesn't require other countries to compare yourself to, it just requires for money to exist and have value.
I love watching a board full of double digit IQ NEETs discuss what would be best for the world.
You realize that the US had 300 million people? The only thing that will happen is something like after the Black plague, aka wages getting higher and people actually being sought after by their employers. You will se the workforce buffer being eaten up in a couple of months, and all those luxuries will be build in the US. Money speaks.
You want ebonics to develop further
Let's not please
Why do modern economies always have to be about (((growth)))? Sounds like a Ponzi scheme.
user, if the wages get higher then unemployment is going to go through the roof. The only way Americans are gonna be able to maintain a decent rate of employment after becoming isolationist is if they accept the pay of your average Chinese sweatshop worker.
because nominal growth is the foundational premise of the established economic system. does it have to be this way? no. but it does under the way the current system works.
>people want goods and services
>they want these goods and services as cheaply as possible
>and they want them to be high quality
>and they want as many of them as possible
>therefore, since their demands are essentially infinite, the market can always keep growing to meet these ever increasing demands
>but hey, who needs (((((((((((growth))))))))))) anyways amiright guys?
there is a simple explanation.
a wealth of a nation comes from money flowing in. money likes growth it is lured in by the promise of growth. and when the promise is gone money gets the fuck up from it's ass and looks for other places to be. and then the country will have even less growth and even less wealth and even less prospect and prosperity. so a country that doesn't grow will invariably start to decline.
do you honestly believe a laborer in china and a laborer in the united states paid minimum wage+the mandated health care benefits here receive are receiving an equal level of compensation?
yeah really. theres a reason you can buy shit for so cheap, and theres also a reason that cheap shit comes from china. put two and two together, dummy. either we keep wages and benefits as they are when labor moves here and things that were once common turn into luxury goods, or everyone accepts lower wages and no benefits the keep product prices in a similar place. although, there will still be a differential since this new labor force is being paid less than minimum
Kys
Do you really thinks that wages would not rise when the worker pool is only 1/6 of what it was before? Supply and demand. It isn't about the maintenance cost of some random worker in China, it is about the random worker in China existing.
>Do you really thinks that wages would not rise when the worker pool is only 1/6 of what it was before?
user, the worker pool is 1/6th of what it was before because 5/6th of the world's resources are now cut off from the USA, meaning that even if the wages of the workers massively increases it won't matter because the price of everything will increase far more than that.
If the US stopped trade with China then South Korea and Japan will take up the slack. Imported goods will be more expensive but we'll still have access to smartphones, refrigerators, etc needed to sustain our lifestyle.
No the work pool is 1/6th of what it was befor ebecause the Chines based factories are cutted out now.
>because the price of everything will increase far more than that.
Do you even know what mercantilism is? It is letting outisde firms being allowed to import raw materials and processed products being blocked from entry, but instead being produced in the US.
wage levels are not an abstraction delivered by god. they will only rise as high as employers can afford to pay. say i am an employer that needs 20 factory staff to assemble a product designed in the united states. other staff in my firm does all the design and makes contracts with part suppliers and just needs a lot of labor for assembly. i can hire 20 people in china for $3/hr, or 20 people in the united states for $7.25/hr except its actually more than that because there are government mandated benefits to pay into like health care, they get stuff like sick time, breaks, vacation, and so on. since compensation for labor is the largest expense in my budget, nearly tripling the price of the labor cost will nearly triple the cost of my product. you are assuming in this scenario that demand for the product will stay constant no matter how high the price gets. thats simply not true
And what stops them from going all to China, exactly, the state under mercantilism
think you dropped a verb in your sentence there, i dont understand it. if you are convinced it is a greater benefit for the state to intervene in the market by forbidding competition im just going to take leave of the thread because there is no helping your or OPs brainletism
>I could easily prove you wrong but intead watch as I call you names
you didnt address my detailed point about my costs rising as an employer. the "increase in wages" you are imagining is the increase in the wages *i* pay as an employer from workers in china to workers in the united states. since my costs are going up eating into my profit and demand for my products is going down since the price has tripled, where am i going to find this magic reserve of cash to pay my workers even more? is it up my ass?
The reason to pay more is to have workers in the first place. Without workers no products. And the employer would happilly give up some percentage of his profit so that he can get profits in the first place. The employer will be forced to use employees in the US. The unemployment rate in the US right now is 3,9%. That is enough supply so that the demand doens't skyrocket and the wages go through the roof. They will steadily increase until the supply has been cut dry, then the wages overall will simply increase again. Slow and steady. No collapse.
Listen you idiot. We will not let Amerikkka destroy the progress we have made in Europe. Your racism and xenophobic hate will never be tolerated here.
When we finally tell you to listen, you will bow your heads and beg for forgiveness. America is no match for us economically, militarily, or morally, and you will back down when we demand it.
I'd rather be xenophone then xenophile
t. actual European
>xenophone
>he doesn't know who xenophone was
Lmao
Nice try American moron. I am German, and no actual European would ever say something so incredibly ignorant even if it weren't rightfully illegal.
Go back to POL with the other hate mongers.
Sei leise Ronny
>Without workers no products
without demand no need for the company to exist. again, you are assuming demand for products will stay the same when they increase in price threefold or more. which simply isnt true. this is literally econ 101
like i said earlier, people will not pay 3x what they are used to paying for basic stuff. they will turn more towards second hand. this is not speculation either, my point here has been empirically supported. you can easily google and find a lot of information on the earnings of thrift stores during the recession. just an example:
reuters.com
>Of the 263 stores that responded, 64.1 percent said sales increased — with an average increase of approximately 31 percent
Wir schaffen das, idiot.
No, China has a huge impact on the global economy. Complaints about China are more Jow Forums than Jow Forums specifically.
The price for products won't increase, the demand will go down, US firms will firstly produce for US citizens. They will be based in the US again. Didn't know that the recession happened because of mercantilism.
Spreng dich weg Sören-Ronny, du kannst kein Deutsch und das ist jedem hier klar
You're an idiot. America can't compete with China's labour because it's cheap and China bans outside competition, they only support their own companies. Chinese companies can legally commit fraud to their investors outside of China.
Trump is doing the lord's work. These chinks have gotten away with too much. America is wealthier. Every tariff America places, it effects China 4 times more than to America because they import more products to us than we to them. When OP says we don't need China, he's right. If they play fare, we should have fewer tariff but this is the real world. They don't play buy the rules, neither should we.
Just be Nazis again, that's when you were at your prime, not trying to fit in with the rest of the clown show like merkel does now.
Cutting off trade would be great. I actually liked factory work when I worked in one once. I have always enjoyed being a nameless unit, and have never seen a problem with just being a number that gets a paycheck, mostly because I've always thought one's job was one of the worst places to try to socialize or build any kind of habitable atmosphere.
wut? price for products won't increase and the demand will go down. so you just expect people to invest in american companies when you've basically gutted them?
the price will literally increase because labor costs will triple (at least). how are you not grasping this
i didnt say anything about mercantilism and the recession, where did you even get that from? is english your second language?
How should the price increase when people by second hand anyways? Shouldn't be the supply even larger when people start rebuying them instead of buying them new? You literally took an example from the recession.
if China were truly break any rules, why hasn't the trump administration taken them to the WTO? i mean, you guys created the WTO, china merely joined. they are playing by the rules you created.
DAE LE CHINKS INSECTOIDS
cant wait til my asian brothers wake up and we poison you all with fent
International organizations are a joke, similar to thinking a 1% stock holder would have equal say with a 51% stock holder.
i love jap's product here in taiwan and it has C/P and quality and the guarana which 30yr old boomer loves.
but if the 51% stock holder created the rules that a 1% holder has equal say, whose fault is that?
also, withdraw from the WTO then if you don't want to follow the rules. but top kek, that ain't happening.
the price will increase because fucking COSTS ARE INCREASING. HOW. ARE. YOU. NOT. GETTING. THIS. i am now convinced you are intentionally fucking up your comprehension to avoid dealing with the point. expenses go up, the company needs to increase its products and services prices to stay in the black. payroll is the largest expense of most businesses (google it). and even if they aren't, they will be when they need to pay workers at least three times as much as they used to.
i am an employer that needs 20 factory workers to make my product. i currently hire 20 laborers in china at $3/hr. if i suddenly need to hire 20 people in the united states, the federal minimum wage mandates that i now pay 20 people in the US $7.25/hr, double that in some states. my products now must increase in price to cover this increase in wage expense
am i just going to cover that $190,400 difference by just pulling that money out of thin air? is this reserve payroll account just going to magically fill up every year so i can keep prices the same?
>asia rise up!!!!!11!!
You realize that China is surrounded by over 15 countries that would gladly invite someone else to help with their Chinese problem?
Ok you won, can we nuke china
Fuck off, Jow Forums. You're a fucking international embarrassment to the rest of us muricans.
he's working under the assumption that businesses will simply eat the extra costs at 1) a huge loss in revenue and profit and 2) businesses will fold.
he thinks both scenarios are acceptable but he's not looking at the big picture that 1) a loss in revenue and profits will surely result in loss of capital investments and raise their cost of borrowing and 2) the loss in investment capital will surely be funneled into other companies that have more promising profit margins, increasing the competition.
It means that if a big player refused to follow the rules, who's going to stop him? Ergo, China can do whatever the deuce, as can America, with little or no repercussion.
but that's the stickler though, China hasn't been proven to have broken any of the rules. so it's fair game. whereas the US has several WTO cases going against them already in regards to the tariffs. if you choose to ignore WTO rules, this will have significant repercussions on global trade. the WTO was created to facilitate globalized trade in a fair and regulated manner.
Meh. Give it time. I doubt any nation feverishly looks at the WTO rule book before making every trade.
they actually do. why do you think China lobbied so hard to get into the WTO? do you think they could've gotten the trade deals they have today if they were locked out? the WTO lowers trade barriers and increases barriers to non-members.
Your fear is delicious.
>I'm being taken advantage of by being drowned in cheap plastic crap!
>What are you, scurred?
brainlets go and stay go.
Nope don’t need China
guys like the speaker in that video will get america nuked.
Get ready for stores to shut down and prices of everything to double.
>Do you even know what mercantilism is?
It's the retarded mentality that import=bad and export=good.
