Because it took a long time to develop, hosting costs money, domain etc.
The 3% is split between myself and the other developer.
EtherShrimpFarm took 4% of all buys and sells for comparison.
I don't think a once off 3% is particularly steep when you can play without any fee afterwards, AND you make a profit over time just by leaving them in there.

It's a buy-in fee. You're paying the devs for their work. Ain't no such thing as a free lunch, bub. When you lose, the money is sent to the house, which is NOT the dev as in a traditional casino. That's why the dev fee is there, so they still get something for their effort.

The reason it's different is because the house edge goes to people who bought into the house, not the devs. In a traditional casino that money would go to the people running the games. Not so here.

When you win, it comes from the tokens of everyone else in the contract proportionally
