Well, it turns out many Japanese people live in the city of Düsseldorf. They have a large Japanese community there, Japanese companies, gardens, and so on.
I'm sure the city makes a lot of profit from the huge amount of visitors. Especially shops and restaurants. So the whole city supports the event and it grows bigger every year.

The last time I was there, it took about 30 minutes to 1 hour to walk from one side of the event to the other side. But you get slowed down by the large amount of people.
The way you described Comiket, it reminds me of Gamescom. It is similar to Comiket, but for video games. They announce many new games, you can play unreleased games a few month before release, and you can get many beta codes.
But, similar to Comiket, you often have to stand in line for hours, until it is your turn!
And Gamescom has a lot of loud music and bright lights. All the games companies try to steal the show of everyone else.

eg. Even though I am gay, however I eat pizza sausage everyday.
so, first, "even though he gay"
