Why do people buy new cars?
It's literally the worst investment you could ever make.

Pussy.
A car is a asset you can sell at any time
Though he was a used car salesman...
liability
> he doesn't buy cars for the new car smell
Get a load of this fucking loser
Not everything is an "investment". An investment is something you put money into with the expectation of generating revenue thereby. Speculation is the purchase of some thing with the expectation that it will increase in value and you can sell it to make a profit thereby. A commodity is something you purchase with the intent of consuming or using for personal reasons (like in the case of a car: personal transportation).
Unless you’re buying james bond cars, those are not assets user
he doesn't know about special edition sports cars like the GT4
i don't consider it an investment, i consider it a luxury. A $15 bottle of whiskey will get you drunk but a $200 bottle will go down a lot nicer and is a luxury i can afford and enjoy.
Because it gives respect from other NPCs. They think NPC #374828 is rich now so they treat him nicer in hopes he buys them something that they would not be able to afford or they just leech for fun.
...
there are lots of limited edition sports cars like the GT350r, GT4, GT2s that sell much higher than MSRP and you have to be rich to get one. In fact, if you were rich it is literally free money as you waitlist for one and flip it for a quick 20% profit. There are also tons of exotic cars that appreciate more than MSRP, like the Mclaren F-1, the porsche 959, SL65 AMGs, Shelby mustangs,
It is just that you are too much of a poorfag to understand, hurrrr depreciation, time to buy a honda civic/toyota camery.
"I got a great deal on it. I actually KILLED the guy. They were hurting after I left that dealership. You know what my monthly payment is?"
It all comes back to pussy eventually.
It's the same reason they buy new smartphones every time a new model comes out.
Why go through all the trouble just for a 20% profit?
I buy new cars because I want it to work. My job pays me like 10k a month. My car costs me 200 bucks. That's worth it to me. If you're a neet you might as well buy a used car yes.
Because it's not an investment. Having a new car means you're paying for not having to do repairs and worry about it breaking down. Spread out over the course of a decade you end up saving a lot of money.
depreciating asset
Never been a car guy, always drove a shitbox but finally decided to splurge on myself as I saw my crypto portfolio dwindling before my eyes and thought i needed to buy something with what remained
Went to one of those "no-haggle" dealerships and got a 2013 BMW 135i convertible for $20k. Around 50k miles on it but absolutely pristine condition
Be honest with me, how did I do? did I get ripped off or a decent deal?
Beemers are the WORST cars. Did you do any research?
I would buy a tesla model x full price tho
>what is buying something because you simply want it
While I agree that buying a car new is stupid when you can get that same car 2 years down the road with 20k miles for thousands less, I also know that not everything you buy in life needs to be an investment that grows in value. The fuck is the point of life if you never actually do something fun with your money on occasion
Obvoiusly you didnt buy special order supercars.. they generally gain a good 200 - 500% in their first few years. You can order, take delivery and aell for 50% over sticker if you have the right color/options.
People buy shitty investments all the time. Cars, toys, pokemon/magic the gathering cards, savings interest rate, payday loans, wife and children.
It's the human nature.
I used to think that way. When it came time for a new car, I said to my wife "WE SHOULD BUY USED," and she said "nah, let's just get a new one that we won't have to worry about and be done with it." And I was like, "B-BUT MUH DEPRECIATING ASSET." In the end I just shrugged and we bought new.
That was in 2012. It was paid off last year and is still comfy and in great shape, and we've put very few miles on it. This thing can easily go another 10 to 15 years. In the end, amortized out over its lifetime (whatever that turns out to be), the purchase price will be negligible.
Buying a new car can make perfect sense, IF you don't drive too heavily, and if you plan to drive it until its dead. It's only the retards who constantly car-swap who are making a huge financial mistake by doing the "buy-new-then-sell" every two years thing.
and you get 20% of its original value
>Beemers are the WORST cars
worst cars how though? i know they say parts and repairs are expensive and shit, but how do you mean?
The cars are over engineered with plastic propriatery parts made to break down at critical intervals to keep you going back to the dealership. I had a beemer, it had a plastic thermostat that looked like a heart with 8 holes for tubes and a gasket that attached to the back of the engine. Guess what happens after it heats up from the coolant and cools down too many times? It cracks, and they put it between the exhaust manifold and the tranny so it's 8 hours of labor to get too and fix $3000 every 50000 miles. You know what other car companies do? Place a thermostat in a rubber cup and attach it to the side of the motor $25 replacement.
They break down all the time and they're cheaply made. They market beemers as luxury because they spend a little extra on interior but that's about it.
To drive
shiny new thing to show off
Poor people probably shouldn't buy new cars. Not everyone is poor.
you son of a bitch
The same argument could be applied to technology, furniture, or clothes. Nothing wrong with buying something new as long as you fully grasp that it’s going down in value. A car is just a tool not an investment.
Poorfags that have never owned a bmw spouting nonsense
Listen to this: in california, if you buy a tesla model 3, california will sed you a check for $2500. But get this, if you make less than $36k a year, you get $4500. So california literally incentivizes poor people to by cars they cant afford.
Did the same thing, OP. Cashed out a chunk of ETH and bought a 2018 X1 for my gf
I swear California has the most retarded state government. Every wacko “solution” they come up with ends up causing more problems.
You did awful. I have my dealers license and I buy 335i’s at auction with 70-80k on them for $3-4K. I sell them for $8k.
$20k for an inferior one-series (bottom of the barrel) 135 with 50k.... complete rip-off.
>Can't afford to live in the best state in America
He’s right about the thermostat, Especially on the n54/n55 engine found in the 35’s. It’s like they have a remote timer set to break at 50k miles. You’re obviously a poorfag whose larping as if he has any clue just because your wallpaper is a shitty bmw with vossen wheels.
T. I’ve bought and sold > 20 bmws this year alone.
>accuses someone of larping
>proceeds to larp at maximum
Kill yourself
To impress other people mostly, it's the typical normie social status shit.
>what is investment
>what is consumption
Idk, why do men like virgins? it's because some other guys cock hasn't been rubbed all over it for years.
i bought a new car at 0% interest rate.
> The rate is the only reason i bought it.
So i can agree with your opinion only if the practical use is not there and the rate is bad.
Otherwise its a good investment.
Poor people wouldn't understand. They always parrot that same line: "As soon as you drive off the lot a brand new car loses 50% of its value" or however much. They want you to think they're smart, so they say it like they're filling you in on a secret only they know, when in reality they're just parroting what someone else told them.
And of course poor people will never understand why someone would actually want to purchase a brand new car. If you have the money, and it's no problem for you, then it's actually worth it to pay a premium to buy a brand new car and have the peace of mind and assurance that your car wasn't previously owned by a drug dealer or whatever and doesn't have jizz on the seats. It is brand new and you know everything about it. No need to worry about any previous repairs it may have needed or any issues it had, brand new. There ARE situations where this is preferable, if you can afford it. I wouldn't expect McDonald's workers and $400 per month disability NEETs to understand though
NPCs all parrot one another with the "hurr durr don't buy new" phrase. You're most likely an NPC.
the moment you buy it loses value retard
A lot of people are really stupid, and get swayed by service plans, or just slick salesmen. Also, the used car market is difficult to navigate.
Youre retarded mate. A 30K car at 5% interest rate can be equal to a 35K car at a 0% interest rate. Bragging about getting a 0% interest rate is like bragging about overpaying for an asset. Should have just bought used and financed through your bank. Cheaper 99% of the time.
I've seen this video. It's shit
NPC's buy new cars because thats what their programming says humans do. If no one bought new cars, there would be no used cars to buy.
Crrrrrringe
if he secured the rate for the lifetime of the loan, and the loan is several years, then he will be paying less each year due to inflation.
Its not a financial mistake. Usually they put the cars spending on business of whatever and get a tax break
This.
Driving any bimmer feels like heaven, that 50/50 rwd is wonderful
Magic cards are actually not bad as investments provided you know what you're doing.
