>Touch Typing has been a completely overlooked skill that is quite possibly one of the best life hacks anyone can learn without making any radical changes to your life or redefining who you are or anything. >Definition Touch Typing is the ability to type into a computer relying on touch alone. You never need to look down at the keyboard. You can type using purely muscle memory and no longer use ‘active’ thinking to work out how to type letters and words. >This means that, in the long run, you can type much faster without the constraints of looking down at the keys and flicking back up to the screen to see what you typed. This can let you progress onto skills such as being able to transcribe audio as it happens and to make notes super fast, or just be able to write emails in the dark or whilst talking to someone else you can carry on working.
Yeah I learned this in high school. Seemed like a meme at the time but it was the most useful thing I learned in high school by far.
Blake James
Touch typing is for fags and Secretaries wearing fucking ear pieces. When the fuck do you ever need to type that much...
The truth is its not the screen u need to be looking at all the time. That was useful when we used old typewriters but with spell check etc even with an essay i just type looking at the keyboard and then later put it into shape.
Easton Fisher
how old are you?
Jeremiah Watson
Touch typing using the home row is just one efficient way of typing.
You can learn "touch typing" incorrectly and still make it. Typing without looking at the keyboard is the easy part.
Juan Allen
>Piano teacher insisted I always look at sheet music when playing >Music school (((audition))) (i.e. determining how rich your parents really are) made me play from memory
Why do they do this?
Angel Diaz
>made me play from memory >not knowing a piece by heart after playing it a few times pleb
Mason Jenkins
I could play from memory easily, but the point was why was my piano teacher being such a bitch about it
Connor Anderson
>The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog BLAST FROM THE MOTHERFUCKIN PAST LOL

MAVIS BEACON IN THIS BITCH
Justin Reed
I know what you mean, I always pretended to look at the sheets even though I could play everything from memory
Lincoln Watson
>not learning how to do this as a child in 3rd grade
And I grew up in the fucking 90s, what kind of shitty school doesn't teach you this or have some sort of computer class where you speed typing? Hell zoomers can not only do this even younger, they can also swipe text faster than any boomer millenial ever could.
Ian Gomez
This sounds like a boomer meme. Millenials learned how to touch type in school, just like boomers did for type writers. Nothing changed.
Dylan Murphy
If touch typing isn't so natural to you you had to think to even know what the word means, you might be a NPC.
Jason Mitchell
You get lots of practice touch-typing when you do most of your typing in the dark.
lol we had a class in middle school where the computer teacher covered the keyboards with a plastic film so we couldn't see the keys and thats how we learned to touch type
You people need to look at the keyboard when you type? Jesus fucking christ.
Grayson Reed
How does anyone not automatically learn this? I'd say nearly 100% of anyone under 60 knows how to type without looking down on the keyboard.
Bentley Perry
>life hack
You have to back..
Christopher Turner
i cant tell tell if this is irony or not if yes, kinda funny i guess? laughing at retards isnt great if no, this is just sad and i wish hitler was still around
>The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog That's wrong. It's:
The quick brown fox jumps over a lazy dog.
Camden Garcia
Right? This qualifies as life hack now? Fucking normies. On the other hand, does that mean that my basic motor skills are something that I can put on a CV now?
Thomas Carter
>irony Satire is the word you're looking for.
Evan Martin
...
Jack Jenkins
this is way too fucking hard, are u fucking kidding me? who honestly thinks this is realistic?
In 5 years max we will al type with out brain waves, what use is it to learn touch typing now, if you don't know it already
Grayson Long
wow this HACK made me get RICH quick honestly you have to be retarded to not know how to touch type
Landon Watson
>implying that its possible to type without looking at the keyboard
Caleb Campbell
Kek.
Zachary Parker
Fuck of. I can play the piano without looking but not touch type. If you never tried it it is kind of hard. Try to learn it since a few weaks.
Jace Bell
Kinda ironic that real lifehack hidden in this picture is synesthetic learning and not blind typing.
Thomas Phillips
Nah its >The quick white man jumps over a lazy nigger
David Collins
I was taught this in third grade w almena (30 yr old boomer here). that sucked though and never made me better at typing. I only ever learned how to touch type after I wasted my life on the internet
Nathaniel Hughes
i self taught me this in couple of weeks with this free ware programm www.tipp10.com
Eli Lewis
>office job LMAO
Luis Taylor
What about shortcuts?
Aaron Reyes
I learned my own 8-10 finger system over the years and now I'm trying to learn to do it by the book because I felt I'm hovering too much over the keyboard with my hands. However, some keys feel really unnatural with the new system due to having very short index and very long middle fingers. Should I keep trying to change or stick with what feels natural?
Jordan Rodriguez
I thought this was a fake name and was pleasantly surprised.
Jayden Adams
Yep. Makes me wonder if a new type of keyboard might become popular in future. Still qwerty but narrower/taller in a scale closer to vertical cell screen. Maybe a hand held thing with shift/function/caps lock on the underside like a vidya controller sort of thing. Keypad on the top used with thumbs, alt keys on bottom side used with fingers.
Hudson Williams
Interesting. I teach guitar/bass and generally encourage students to commit songs to memory as soon as they are able as it makes it easier for them to focus on technique/tempo when they're not focused so much on sightreading.
I don't see what benefit there would be to insisting students play off sheet music for songs they already know.
Nathaniel Turner
i do it incorrectly but efficiently with only 4 fingers. i only managed to get good at it because of a mmorpg i played in middle school.
never used computers at school until high school.
Nathaniel Ortiz
>2018 >there are still people that need to look at the keyboard while typing
top fucking kek haven't looked at the keybord while writing for the past 13years of my life
Asher Thomas

Wtf lol. I learned to touch type automatically by spending way too much time on the internet. I assumed all you autists could do this automatically.
Robert Perez
i learned on stickybear typing loaded from 5 1/4 floppies on an apple IIgs
Nicholas Allen
I think he is being sarcastic
Jaxson Anderson
Touch typing QWERTY keyboard, non Dvorak. The current state of cucks in 2018
Jayden Flores
If you have any poor students, make sure to start telling them to read off the sheet so that they'll fail if they ever try to be accepted by upper class society.
Kayden Wood
Mavis Beacon was the fucking shit, that DNA splicing game was top tier
Seriously though, thank God they taught us to touch type while we were young
the fuck you autists can't do this? I can type automatically at like 120wpm. This took less than 30 seconds to type.
Austin Bailey
I didn't even know people called it "touch" typing, I just call it typing
Elijah Gutierrez
>Be me >In primary school learning to type >Teacher had everyone using type to learn, you “level up” as you complete more exercises >Teacher told me to stop looking at the keyboard while I type >Typing much slower than before, kids start leveling past me >Didn’t want to lose, continue looking at the keyboard while I type >Fast forward 15 years later, I still type the same way Granted, I can type much faster when I look at the keys and with more accuracy too, but I fucked myself over in the long run >BRO HOW DO YOU TYPE IN THE DARK!?! I don’t, at night I take my ass to sleep like a normal fucking person
>be 11 at school >have to wear glasses >get teased for doing so >decide to stop wearing them >cant see shit >have to learn to remember things from the teacher saying it only once >works better than expected >never have to study again because knowledge just sticks who whouldve thought
