I'm so ashamed of being born in a shithole country. I'm so ashamed when I look at my country and realize there's very little redeeming qualities about it.

atleast you got despacito
Search for them before you die.
at least you got kebabs
Is Malaysia first world to you?
Why is Malaysia so different from Indonesia? Aren't you the same people with the same language?
Cheer up poland. It'll all be over when WW3 happens.
Poland is not THAT bad
Go to sleep nigga
Indonesia is one of the fastest growing economies in the world, it gets better indonanon
Malaysia is not first world, but that would certainly be an upgrade.
>Why is Malaysia so different from Indonesia?
difference in what? development? I'm not sure but my own personal theory is because of the british. Malaysia has always been more developed tham the surrounding countries since maybe the early 20th century. In the 50s and 60s malaysia already had a pretty high gdp per capita compared to other surrounding countries. Coupled with high levels of english proficiency and you got a recipe for success.
I can't, I'm thinking of how much of a shithole my country is
wrong. growth has been stagnant for a while now just hovering around 5%. I will be long dead before indonesia even comes close to being first world, if indonesia still exists to become first world in the future that is.
I thought you're poland, but you aren't. Is there any way of memorizing which one is poland and which one Indonesia, a rhyme or sth?
5% is high, better than many other 3rd world countries
I don't know, I think I saw someone post like a rhyme or something herr but I can't remember
>growth has been stagnant for a while now just hovering around 5%
hahaha the average BR poster in here hadn't even started to masturbate the last time our GDP grew by over 5%
>Malaysia is not first world
If Malaysia is not first world to you then half of Europe isn't one either, especially Eastern Europe and partially Southern Europe.
> I'm not sure but my own personal theory is because of the british
You had the Dutch, I'd think they should be even better colonizers than the British.
Malaysia and I guess certain parts of europe are not first world, but they're certainly leaps better than indonesia.
>You had the Dutch, I'd think they should be even better colonizers than the British.
they weren't. ever wondered why despite 300 or so years of dutch presence barely any Indonesian can speak dutch?
another big factor aside from colonization is population. Malaysia has way less population which can be more easily managed.
The philippines and vietnam have higher growth
brazil still has a higher gdp and gdp per capita, better hdi, better life expectancy, etc.
Come to brazil
at least we can fuck 9 year olds
>they weren't. ever wondered why despite 300 or so years of dutch presence barely any Indonesian can speak dutch?
Maybe the Dutch didn't force the local population to adopt their customs and language? How is that wrong?
And you know, in lots of British colonies few people speak English, like in most of British Africa. Actually few people speak English in India too.
>Malaysia has way less population which can be more easily managed.
I don't think this is relevant, the USA is populous and extremely rich, China is getting richer despite being the most populous country in the world.
If anything, I'd say your location could be a serious disadvantage (a country scattered over hundreds of islands). Still, at least Java should be on the level of Malaysia.
But in fact I think it's just all about the number of Chinese people in your country. The more Chinese you have, the richer you are, that's simple.
Take one of your islands and let Chinese people colonize it, you'll get another Taiwan in 30 years.
>brazil still has a higher gdp and gdp per capita, better hdi, better life expectancy
True but that's probably because half of your country is basically living in shanties in the middle of the jungle, plus you have way less violent crime overall. I doubt that someone living in Jakarta or other big cities has it much worse than someone in a big city over here.
iktf bro ...... :(
I constantly obsess over stats like hdi, gdp, income, regional hdi income, growth projections etc. Even though my own life is very comfortable due to wealthy parents (i have latest iphone, mac, cars, good house, etc etc) it fucking sucks that my country isnt 1st world. We get humiliated and mocked. Our average citizens don't enjoy the level of comfort and wealth that 1st worlders do.
I wish India gets at least 0.800 HDI in my lifetime. In the meantime, I can only cope with this
I unironically get butthurt at all the India-bashing on the internet because I think you have a really cool history and mythology.
Unfortunately, time flies and people view even that history with the lens of "oh well they're fucking 3rd world" today
Someday... 40 50 60 years later we will be great again. Hopefully and god willing. I think Brazil can be paradise tier if it lowers its violent crime (its already fairly developed)
>Maybe the Dutch didn't force the local population to adopt their customs and language? How is that wrong?
I'd say this is a blessing in disguise. What I was alluding to was the fact that natives weren't allowed to speak dutch back then. It's part of the racial hierarchy that the dutch set up, which shows how the dutch viewed indonesians back then, like barbaric inferior people not worthy of education.
>I don't think this is relevant, the USA is populous and extremely rich, China is getting richer despite being the most populous country in the world.
It's relevant when Indonesia had a high population from the start. The US didn't have a high population from the start. China is getting richer yes but it is obvious that the high population is still a burden. Which is why they had the one child policy.
>Still, at least Java should be on the level of Malaysia.
Again, down to the population. Java has more than four times the population of malaysia. and at the time around independence, I think only around 5% of javanese people could read. A high uneducated population is a great burden.
By your logic thailand should be on taiwan level of development now because they have the highest number of chinese in SEA. yet they are still trailing behind malaysia.
>Even though my own life is very comfortable due to wealthy parents (i have latest iphone, mac, cars, good house, etc etc) it fucking sucks that my country isnt 1st world
then you wouldn't be probably wealthy, most of wealthy people in third world countries take advantage of their country being poor, so with their mediocre by western standards salaries they are upper class in their countries
