I think the worst part of their bite isn't just the fact that they can bite off a chunk of your leg in a snap but they also carry deadly diseases like tetanus and rabies.

Only at distance. Sometimes males get too bold and territorial and may attack people. Also what user said females with litter are really aggressive and they chase people off if they get too close. Basically avoid all contact unless they've been raised in captivity and are used to people. They add a nice touch of life to places though.
