1. The Arabs that did reach Egypt & Syria lived in the deserts(see: Banu Hilal and Banu Sulaym). Banu Hilal, were one of the largest Arab groups, used to live in the eastern Desert in Egypt until they were expelled to the Maghreb by the fatimids. Same thing happened with Banu Sulaym: they lived close to Upper Egypt but crossed the Nile and migrated away.

2. The population of Arabia has always been nothing compared to the population of Egypt and Syria.
