You realize it's a distraction right? The Pentagon wants Greenland now for the same reasons it wanted it in 1945: a place to park nukes and use as a nuclear waste dump. Trump killed the INF Treaty last month and START has only 16 months left until it expires. It is likely mass production of nuclear warheads will begin before then, and Greenland is the obvious place to expand nuclear operations. It'd be the east coast equivalent of Alaska and Hawaii's role in regards to the west coast.

All the stupid memes and shit is a red herring, but he's way more obvious with his intentions than people think. Just look at the hotel he used in the image - it's Trump Tower Las Vegas which is less than 50 feet from a railroad line the Dept of Energy wants to use to move nuclear waste with to Yucca Mountain (when it's built). If Trump is able to buy Greenland, he is able to prevent this from happening as he is unable to simply terminate Yucca Mtn as it originates from an act of Congress. Ditto for telling the Pentagon no to new nukes... they'd accuse him of being a Russian sympathizer.
