You are correct Eistland, intelligent people speak Scots. But "Initially, Jews were most likely to be from Russia, Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia."... can we trust you aren't a Jew?
is there a real reason not to use duolingo, or do some people just hate duolingo because it's popular and some people use it terribly?
I've been doing French with it for a few months and it seems like a good way to slowly learn grammar through examples, rather than trying to cram linguistic terminology down your throat.
Owen Stewart
its fucking garbage almost in every sentence some grammar is wrong
Gabriel Phillips
It just shouldn't be your main source to learn from >is there a real reason not to use duolingo Perhaps because of how completely correct translations may get rejected simply because >lol u didnt use the right synonym
Jacob Hall
In preparation for relearning german and languageslut recovery, I've been watching some german dubbed and german content from time to time.
It would be harder to learn Scots, mainly because of the lack of media.
Sebastian King
It's good as an introduction to a language and for casual exercising but as the other user said, it should really not used as a main source to learn because it's very limited.
Also some courses suck more than others. The Russian one for example doesn't even bother to introduce you to slavrunes.
James Myers
>slavrunes whats that
Cooper James
cyrillic
Evan Mitchell
well you should learn that in advance, takes one day
Carson Price
I'm terrible at it, might be autism tho I can only remember a few like D and G and P
Elijah Turner

Alphabets in general are easy and people are more intimidated by them than they should be imo. I taught myself the Devanagari script in a few hours the other night. Arabic is the only one that fucks with both my eyes and brain, most of all because of the unwritten vowels.
Levi Cruz
this. if I can learn 25 kanji a day then im sure you could do the same with Cyrillic.
Alexander Murphy
if you cant do it in one day than start slow mom i can link you the pictures i learned it with back then ryanestrada.com/russian/
Oliver Sullivan
Well cool but the rest isn't :^) Also all the sh-sounds that don't have equivalents in English were the most difficult ones (even though I know their sounds and such from Polish)
Juan Long
Cyrillic isn’t so hard. Лaтиницa - лeгкo
Elijah Bell
>The Russian one for example doesn't even bother to introduce you to slavrunes. Used to be it didn't even offer a soft keyboard to write cyrillic in case you didn't have a Russian keyboard layout already installed.

Regular cyrillic is a nice, easy to read alphabet, but cursive cyrillic is truly stupid and almost impossible to read (especially when written). Serbian is probably the worst offender because you can combine latin and cyrillic, small and capital letters and it's a huge confusing mess.
William Green
Can't read shit captain

Your translator is bad. Right version will be: Aнгличaнoк eбyт индycы
You do realize different courses are made by different volunteering people, don’t you?
Joseph Martinez
I never said that.
Robert Cooper
How the fuck do you learn 25 kanjis a day?
Evan King
>the european language
Luis Collins
To write, and to have text in italics on a computer.
At least cursive latin script has distinct letters and the readability depends on the person who wrote it. (Serbian) cursive cyrillic has the same fucking 'tooth' for л, љ, м, ш, и, ц, т, п, г, y, џ, and I think something else I'm forgetting, even if you do your best you always end up with long strings of 'teeth' with some dashes on top and curls below.
I guess he means English.

From this book "Remembering the Kanji". I do 25 a day from the book then do a session on Anki from the previous ones to make sure I remember them.
Brandon Johnson
Can you write them out by hand without checking the dictionary?
Nathaniel Moore
cant read shit
Gavin Cooper
doesn't matter it still has errors in it why learn errorrs?
Wyatt Ortiz
I can write most of the ones I have done without looking them up, it's very rarely that I get the order of radicals wrong, if you want to know how you learn them I can go into that.
Jackson Hill
>it What? Some nigger language course abandoned by all of their 2,5 contributors one year ago?
Lincoln Wood
Why the fuck is simplified chinese's simplification so inconsistent? Who greenlit this shit?
Adrian Parker
What kinda shit course did you do
My course has no errors, I know cause I do the lessons while a native speaker is next to me Only things that happen are weird pronunciations and slighly awkward translations sometimes
Hunter Morris
As far as I know there is only 1 course for every language or am i wrong?
Jaxson Richardson

>He's using duolingo as his only learning resource Truly dekinai or whatever, can't find a better word than what djt uses
Adrian Lopez
For the basic characters like 日 or 火 you just have to remember them without any tricks, although since they come often you will have to know them to learn more advanced Kanji.
Now for the advanced Kanji. This Kanji for fish is 魚. We remember it as a story. So the fish was BOUND in a RICE FIELD then took to the FIRE to be cooked for eating. For each Kanji I make a story like this to remember them, so I only write it out to make sure I do the correct stroke order. Usually I wouldn't write it more than once.

Tfw still exhausted from the britfren's challenge last thread and doing Clozemaster and reading Ferdinand von Schirach to cool down.
What kind of tips are you looking for? Any Romance language is easymode.

Where to start? Gonna sign up to a beginner's class in September
Brayden Martinez
First. Learn the Portuguese alphabet. Second: Start listening to Portuguese Media. Second of Second: Read nursery books in Portuguese and learn what words mean and use your brain to understand sentences. If you use a grammar book or a text book you are learning poorly.
Xavier King
I dunno I guess I'd just play around with Duolingo or something and get a little head start. September is very soon.
Xavier Barnes
Thanks for the on topic post

Move straight into Pessoa. There is no reasiny to delay it.

Medium > What kind of diet is she on? > Yesterday, I was offered a donut but I did not take it. > That isn't true -- you ate a strawberry danish and a tiramisu cake. > *sigh* And they didn't even taste that good.

Listen to Fado. Try to shield yourself from anything Brazilian if you can.
Most of the Jews in Eastern Europe fled between the 1880s and 1930s or were murdered in WWII.

> Michelle is walking in the park. Myszeł chodzi w parku > She is a little bit chubby. Ona jest trochę gruba(I know gruby more so means fat but I don't know a better word to use) > How often do you exercise? ??? > There are tomatoes and olives in the salad. W sałatki ma pomidory i oliwki
> What kind of diet is she on? Jakie ona ma dieta? > Yesterday, I was offered a donut but I did not take it. Wczoraj, ktoś oferował mi pączek, ale nie zbrałem go(I've heard that the passive sounds weird in these kind of sentences so I went with the more liberal translation) > That isn't true -- you ate a strawberry danish and a tiramisu cake. To nieprawdziwy - zjadłeś duńczyk truskowy(?) i tiramisu > *sigh* And they didn't even taste that good. och, i nie smakowali tak dobrze

> What kind of diet is she on? Que tipo de dieta esta haciendo? > Yesterday, I was offered a donut but I did not take it. Ayer, me ofrecio una dona pero no la sace. > That isn't true -- you ate a strawberry danish and a tiramisu cake. No es cierto, comiste una postre de fresa y una torta de tiramisu > *sigh* And they didn't even taste that good. *respira* y el sabor no era tan buena.
> The keto diet is the latest fad because you are allowed to eat all the bacon and cheese you want. La dieta keto es el dieta recientamente de moda porque estan permitido a comer todos las pancetas y quesos que quieren. > Tonight I will touch my toes and stretch my hamstrings. Este noche tocare mis dedos de pies, y estirar mis tendones de las covas. > I am too scared to check my blood pressure because I believe it will be too high. Tengo demasiado miedo para verificar mi presion de sangre porque creo que lo estara demasiado alto > When I buy a gym membership, I will run on the treadmill at least once a week. Cuando compro una afiliacion de gimnasio, correre sobre la corredora al menos una vez por semana

you should just practice your pronunciation a lot because there were a few words that I couldn't understand at all.
try to imitate everything you hear in english, especially how words are stressed. I'm sure there are youtube videos and podcasts specifically for helping ESLs speak more clearly.
Nathan Cox
How long will it take to sound like i took talking classes?
Jayden Moore
This was very hard to understand. Some words sound slurred or like they're trailing off

I couldn't tell you, it probably depends on how good you are at impersonating people/accents.
as a football fan, I always notice that spanish people seem to struggle most with the pronunciation of english, so perhaps you could look for some guides specifically for spanish people.
for example, someone who's worked in england for years but still doesn't have great pronunciation: youtube.com/watch?v=kV6498nJnbY

Difficile >Le regime keto est la derniere mode parce qu'il te permet de manger tout le bacon et le fromage que tu veux >Cette nuit je vais toucher mes orteils et étirer mes tendons de la jambe >J'ai trop peur pour controler ma pression artérielle car je crains qu'elle est trop haute >Quand j'achete mon pass pour la gymnase, je vais courir sur le tapis roulant au moins une fois par semaine
