We from the rest of the world can only dream of achieving such levels of basedness and dominance. Fuck.
That's why europeans were seething back in 2016-2017 and spammed the mutt meme

all of your countries are just provinces of america and we are the capital

You do realize ENGLISH comes from ENGLAND right? Also you don't even have your own languages and still speak the ones of your masters

and it was also influenced by Danish invaders IIRC

English has about 40% French vocabulary so I consider myself also satisfied

>your language Weird. I thought everyone was speaking English. Well, nearly everyone - the Americans insist on sticking to their simplified dialect but anglophones can usually parse it just fine.

What masters? The entirety of Portugal's royal court came to Brazil in ships and Rio was the capital of all the Empire of portuguese-speaking countries of the planet for years, Brazil is a continuity of portuguese history, not a colony like the rest. Know your history.
Brody Collins
It doesn't matter because mutts made it the lingua franca.

Even if you credit USA with making it the lingua franca (a common misconception but a misconception all the same), it's still English - despite taking plenty of liberties with spelling the Americans didn't invent their own language to spread around.
Nathaniel Baker
How is it a misonception, tho? After WW2 US has been culturally dominant, exporting Hollywood etc in English. Genuinely interested.

>You no cultural/ethnic connection to your native language
Well it's really the British empire that spread English around the world in the first place, including to America. British colonies had to use English to trade even if it didn't replace local languages for daily use. The British also introduced the concept of education to lots of thirdies, which was usually only available in English. For sure USA helped speed up the process after WWII, but it's not like English was confined to England up until then - it was already the main language of international trade and educated elite classes around the world.

Interesting. Didnt know about these things in detail. Thanks!

You're most welcome.

>implying non-natives learn the english accent in lieu of the american one
Justin Ortiz
That poster didn't imply that and it's essentially meaningless to point out anyway. People pick up the accent of the people they're exposed to most frequently. It's not like immigrants in the UK are picking up American accents either.
