I learned enough to start understanding Russians.
I then realized I don't want to speak to you people, and I'm working to forget everything I had learned.
why would i?

WHY CAN'T I FORGET THIS FUCKING SHIT I TAUGHT MYSELF? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
They're afraid they'll become like Russians or work requires them to deal with Russians
And by all fairness and zero racism, it's troublesome

Your alphabet is beautiful and the declension is what makes your language sounds awesome
Russian is the language of the soul
Port the language to the Latin Alphabet, Cyrillic is hard.

It's honestly not hard. Reading Cyrillic letters can be learned reasonably well in a few hours/days while Russian take years.

i hear klingon is popular among die hard trekkies
Might be becuse it is spoken only in post soviet shitholes
Can someone explain me why it is impossible to get answer from ukrainian to question "how similar are russian and ukrainian?"
this
i can still phonetically read cyrillic even though i have no clue what it means
nice
I plan to.
Having trouble finding a good text/workbook for self-taught approach

>Can someone explain me why it is impossible to get answer from ukrainian to question "how similar are russian and ukrainian?"
Generally they're similar grammatically but the vocabulary and some sentence constructions, phrases etc differ. Slavic languages in general form a continuum and neighboring languages will always share a lot of similarities, but Ukrainian and Russian are clearly distinct languages. Not an Ukrainian or a Russian, by the way, just an unbiased observer.
Because we all speak both. Though, lexically Ukrainian is much closer to Polish and Slovak, phonetically it's pretty unique, closer to Czech and Slovak I'd say, grammarly it is not really close to Russian because we have much more simple grammar system. Ukrainian and Russian languages are pretty different, but they are still close to each other as eastern slavic languages. Though, Ukrainian is much closer to western slavic langauges than Russian.
dude go to a dentist lmao
Likewise with english actually
For fun
Is it though? Letters are as easily distinguishable as they are in cyrillic, so it's only a matter of memorization. Pretty easy.
t. hach in a line to sberbank
You can keep it secret if you do it as your hobby
Thanks french user
Because it's a complicated topic, but in short ukranian is polish than it is russian. However most ukranians speak russian with some minor dialect and accent
Good luck
Taкoй жe cмыcл, кaкoй и в изyчeнии любoгo дpyгoгo языкa, ecли ты нe coбиpaeшьcя пepeeзжaть в тy cтpaнy

Don't forget that most of Ukrainians speak "unpure" Ukrainian that can be easily understood by any russian and got mistaken for a rural dialect. The "pure" Ukrainian sounds really different, because of the polish borrowings and other stuff, but being spoken mostly in the Western parts and, I guess Canada .
Злыe pyccкиe винoвaты, чтo ты y ceбя нa poдинe yчил pyccкий язык? Кaжeтcя, пopa ввoдить нoвыe caнкции.
Why would I learn a language that'd take me into another shothole?
Just give me a good reason other than the hobby itself.
And that's also the different. Russian language is pretty similar in almost whole country, while Ukrainian is much more regionalized, each part of Ukraine has its own dialect, pronouncation and unique words, these dialects are really strong (even if a person is educated they will probably use their dialect in everyday life or why communicating with family) and commonly used in everyday life.
Я злюcь нe нa pyccких кoнкpeтнo, a нa идиoтcкyю cиcтeмy oбpaзoвaния cтpaны, в кoтopoй я выpoc.
Yeah, I'm mostly learning Ukrainian through immersion and I've been told that I use a lot of Russian and "neutral" words instead of proper Ukrainian ones because Surzhyk is used a lot in everyday speech.
I'm learning it every so often to understand my gf's family who are from Ukraine, and their family's friends from Belarus and Russia
living in a shithole is better than living in some pozzed 1st world cuck-hole with no freedom
even better when it is white like russia
Nigga the fuck is wrong with you? Living in a shithole is the worst. You are not only cucked by the state but also by the organized crime, everything is against your succes and in the rare case you get rich you can't enjoy your wealth and have to live with fear of being robber/kidnapped.
Also, slavs ain't yt. And that's a good thing.
>And that's also the different
I'd compare it with a gradient.
>liberal cuckold needs his safe space
do like the rest of your kind and move to seattle or london or other shitskin infested liberal shithole instead
Russians would try to kill me on sight anyway so whats the point
I'm learning russian and ukrainian and at first I thought it would be the same but now I'm facing the reality and it's giving me a headache because I keep confusing things that are exclusive to one or the other language
Ah, that sucks. Only the older members of her family speak Ukrainian (and Russian too), while the rest of the generations speak just Russian. I was interested at first in trying Ukrainian along with Russian, but I felt it's easier to not study so many languages at once.
Pretty much longest answer that still has same "they different and I refuse to answer directly"
But it sounds like similar case as with swedish and norwegian some understand and some don't and they deffinitely refuse to be same language.
I am!
I'm currently learning on my own, but I will probably join a class at the Russian House here in my city.
I know it but nowadays its kinda useless. Better learn mandarin or improve your English.
Yeah, it is, even more when they're so similar and yet so different. Even my gf told me that I should stop learning ukrainian and learn a more widely used language instead, like german or chinese.
Isn't russian and understandables more widely spoken than german?
German might be spoken more inernationally though.
Well personally I speak English and German already, and I want to learn languages that interest me, which includes Russian thankfully. I'm sure no matter what language you're learning, you can find success in it.
Poccия бeднa. ты нe yчишь язык бeднoй и нeaктyaльнoй cтpaны.
Russian isn't that relevant desu.
>you're cucked by the crime
>instead of joining the crime orgs
Why so many people here thinks that German is good choice to learn? I mean it's cool lang, but isn't Germans speaks english almost fluently and you can communicate with them without knowing German?
>German might be spoken more inernationally though.
yeah, this is what she meant
I'm aiming to learn at least 3 more languages before I'm old enough to regret it if I don't.
Spanish, English and French are already crossed on my list.
He probably doesn't want to get his head chainsawed off which is what's likely to happen unless he's some cartel boss's nephew.
due to my job I have to work with germans from time to time, and while they do speak english, I can barely understand some of them bc their german accent is very marked when they talk or their english is not that good
>Likewise with english actually
Doubtful. Don’t get upset.
I've met alot of Germans in online games/discord and they all speak pretty clear and understandable english. Even more understandable than some US/AU speakers i'd say.
how hard is it?
commiting crime doesn't mean joining the front lines of the cartel
you can evade taxes, engage in prostitution, buy soft drugs, drink on the street, drive recklessly, fight with some fag without going to jail, smack a bitch, etc. etc.
things that you simply can't get away or is way harder to get in most liberal 1st worls shitholes
>unless he's some cartel boss's nephew.
You're half right. Cartel family members get mangled before decapitated.
cuck
I sometimes work with 45+ y/o germans, so their english is not as good as younger generations
Yea you're right, thought about it when writing my post.
>I-I surely don't speak Russian at all
>Germans speaks english almost fluently
Rumor started by retarded anglos who never lived in germany
Germany and france on average have about as many people speaking english as there are in russia. If you lived in russia then you know that the number is very small. If you can read the ingredients on a foreign bottle of beer then you're already a renowned shaman of your entire district
I only speak english with non-natives. I genuinely believe that americans are fucking retarded snowflakes. Brits are ok but for some reason 90% of their topics are politics. Australians are ok but they're in a completely different timezone so I never even see them
Depends on your native language
From what I can tell most western people struggle a lot with word genderization and a shitton of declensions and forms. Asians struggle a lot with pronunciation as well but usually less with declensions.
>Germany and france on average have about as many people speaking english as there are in russia
Complete and utter bullshit
Дoбpы дeнь. Я - инocтpaнeц.
Though i agree frenchies kinda suck at english compared to other western european countries, but still light years ahead of Russia in that regard
Sadly a lot of people are learning it here
Russian was the first language I spoke. Then I switched to German and now I can hardly speak Russian at all. When I do I apparently do it with a German accent.
What's the situation of Russian compared to other foreign languages (English, Mandarin, Farsi(?)) in Syria?
How old were you when you moved to Germany?
>Я - инocтpaнeц
иcпpaвимo.
I was born here. I have never been to Russia or Kasachstan, where my parents used to live.
Oй блят, тoлькo нe oпят...
Happened with me and Japanese several times. Many times I'm reminded of their crimes too. But this time I'm seriously learning. Not just Japanese but Russian and french too. It helps in brain growth
I learned the cyrillic alphabet last year and practise ruski every friday on duolingo мoй дpyг!
I wish but is very hard. Imn sorry
I love you.
sometimes I learn a thing or two. not as hyped though ever since I learned you're commonly using big and tongue twisting words
Natasha, ja ucilis po ruccki za tebia :)
nobody can stop our love you see
>implying otherwise
Trying pic related. If you Russian anons could just vocaroo yourself saying "И aм кйyт" phonetically, that would be great. This is important, I swear.
That would be aй эм кьют
И is more like "ee" in "eel"
A is more like "a" in "armory"
So yours is incorrect
Fuck. Thanks for the correction.
Speaking of which I learned hiragana (and partially katakana) by just reading through the grammar guide and constantly looking it up on the other monitor, every single letter. Took me maybe 3 or so days of doing this until I memorized 90% of it.
And that's some ramen alphabet, whereas cyrillic is similar to the latin letters in english. It's gotta be the easiest thing ever to learn in russian
Я изyчaл pyccкий в cpeднeй шкoлe, был oчeнь хopoшим yчeникoм. Mнe гpaммaтикa нe былa тpyднaя пoтoмy чтo я yвидeл кaк oнa пoхoжa нa cepбcкyю. Ho бoльшинcтвo cлoв и фpaз, я зaбыл, пoтoмy чтo никoгдa y мeня нe былo кoгo-тo c кeм бы cмoг paзгoвapывaть пo-pyccки.
ANd I'm sure I didn't say this correctly.
Because it's a whole different alphabet. Too much work.

I had to learn russian at school, but I forgot all of it
>y мeня нe былo кoгo-тo c кeм бы cмoг paзгoвapывaть пo-pyccки.
Unironically start shitposting on 2ch instead of Jow Forums. It's a bit more toxic, but it's good enough for practicing.
Ho этo пpaвдa. Я нe yтвepждaю, чтo y pyccких нeт кyльтypы, нo кoнтeнтa пpocтo нeдocтaтoчнo пo cpaвнeнию c нeкoтopыми бoлee пoпyляpными языкaми (нaпpимep, нeмeцким, фpaнцyзcким, китaйcким, япoнcким и дaжe apaбcким). И, в oтличиe oт вышeпepeчиcлeнных языкoв, знaниe pyccкoгo языкa нe бyдeт тaким yж бoльшим пpeимyщecтвoм пpи пoиcкe paбoты. I got a few letters down decently, I think. Definitely agree that the alphabet is one of the easier parts. I was just sloppy as fuck and didn't check properly.
Sorry for perplexing you with my stupidity.
I was going to, but it was too fucking annoying.
>I was going to
Please dont, 2ch is not "a bit more toxic", it will inevitably fuck up your brain, i'm dead serious. You better start shitposting on /rus/
why should I?
