The thing about religion is that now it is quite literally outdated.

We live in a new world, one of science and technology. The reason why Christianity has lasted so long is because for almost 2000 years after its inception life stayed pretty much the same, a few people were rich and owned lots of land and most people were poor peasants, often farmers so for them the Bible was very relatable in ways I doubt we could quite understand. Sure a lot of the basic stuff still applies but only in broad ways which really mean very little.

Now we are dealing with new obstacles, our way of life is completely different. The poor now are rich compared to those that came before but the problem isnt a monetary poverty but a poverty of the spirit. The bible doesnt say how to be content in the modern world but reckon soon enough there will be a religion that does. Maybe I will be the messiah of the modern world, once I have truly overcome it and I will save all your souls.
