Yeah, mostly. Almost all dogs have that. I mean even most humans have that, it's pretty natural because we are used to live in situations where we were basically constantly at danger to starve. The appetite is not the problem, basically all dogs I've known were always hungry kek. It's about how fast they eat, and about how many dogs don't stop eating despite being full. The latter is rarely a problem because owners usually give reasonable portions of course, but there's situations like the dog finding where the food is stored and eating an entire bag of dog food, for example. Stuff like that can legit lead to death by overeating.

Some breeds are just really prone for it, like labs and golden retrievers, there it's simply genetics.
Another huge and common factor is how dogs are raised as puppies. It's pretty common with breeders and (especially) puppy mills to just give a bunch of food to all the puppies at once, which then causes huge competition for food where they either have to eat fast as all fuck and as much as you can get or they won't get anything. That ingrains into their brains and dogs basically become compulsive eaters due to those experiences.

If a dog dies after eating untainted food it deserved to die. Survival of the fittest, brah.

I know that cats that have been raised in the land might stay long times away from the food bowl but at some day they might come and eat that bowl empty and ask for more and leave when had enough.

I'm really sad for pitbulls. I know many people are trying really hard to take away the image that they are monsters, and they mean it well, but something is just inherently wrong with that breed. As you said, they can be raised to be the sweetest family dog, but they can still suddenly just flip the fuck out and seriously hurt the people that raised them. There's just something fucked up in their genes that makes them sometimes have some sort of chimp out. I just cannot trust that breed, as much as I wish for them to just be treated like normal dogs, but they aren't.

And yeah, people often just pick a breed they like but don't inform themselves about that breeds common personality. Shibas got really popular for example cause le doge memes, but they are pretty damn hard to train because they are incredibly stubborn, and they are more "catty" than normal dogs. It's always sad when people buy dogs cause they are trendy, some with dalmatians back then when the movie came out. Millions of them landed in pounds or were even put down. I wish people wouldn't put so little thought into something so important.

Yeah pretty much. Dogs who have been abused and didn't get enough food also very often develop eating disorders because of trauma. I knew a dog who downright refused to eat whenever anyone else was in the room because she used to get beaten by her previous owner whenever she would eat too much or something. She was too scared to eat with other people present despite not being abused anymore.

My cousin had a really weird cat. He was basically feral. He was literally gone for most of the year, like he just never even came to their house once, he only returned for winter every time. First time it happened they thought he died until he returned, then thought he just got really fucking lost, but then it happened every single year.
They lived right next to a forest so he probably just lived as a feral cat in the forest until it gets too cold. He was covered in ticks whenever he came back, lol
