Look up the statistics of a us invasion and how underestimated the numbers of Japanese forces were in Kyushu in case of a us invasion

And you're going to launch and fuel them how? Hiroshima got targeted because of the factories making war goods. Nagasaki for its port. Air bases would have been nuked as well.

More anti-air defenses wouldn't have saved them, unless the Japanese were somehow able to shoot down 100% of all incoming American bombers all the time. A single bomber could flatten an entire city, and at that stage of the war the Americans had no shortage of war materiel to throw at them. You can't win against that kind of asymmetry.
In any case, we can generally assume if there was a path for Japan to somehow avert total defeat, they would have taken it.
