Why, you were disappointed?

Not really. I had a 24-hour layover in Tokyo a couple years back. Stayed in a hostel near Narita. It seemed like a pleasant country--lots of pretty parks and autistic locals, but not somewhere I'd really want to live.

Coincidentally, have another JAL flight in 10 days. Spending another night near Narita. Not sure if I'll bother going into Tokyo this time, since I land around 5pm and have to fly out again at 11am the next day.

Tokyo is cool with a lot of things going on, with those things being primarily good. Lots of tech and shockingly clean despite its size. You have a lot in any given area, almost as if the city is actually several smaller cities, inside of one vast desert of buildings.

That said, the whole place is a vast monotonous concrete desert that reduces any individual to a mere ant. Doesn't help that the people living here also aren't diverse, so not only will you be an ant, but you'll forever belong to the other colony. Add to that huge crowds of identical copies constantly on the move, yea no; it's a marvelous example of human prowess, but in order for it to be that it has to more or less literally be a machine, constantly working on max efficieny, and the people have to be the cogs and nothing else.

Oh yeah absolutely, I'll do anything for the sake of watching anime in anime land because I cant do that from over here, lets forget I'll be sleeping on the floor like a dog in a 4sq meter room where I can touch the ceiling by stretching your arm half way up, with the risk of earthquakes and high humidity. Also if work, I cant wait until I get on trains during rush hour so I can get pushed in by designated 'passenger arrangement staff', that shit turns me on.
