The port used by the ferry service an the commercial one are two separate ports. So much so they're on the opposite side on the main island.

Yeah but to transport goods to the island it's better to just unload them in their port directly instead of unloading them in malta and then crossing the tunnel

Having a ship doing two stops (because it's not like the ship is carrying cargo only for Gozo) would be a waste of time desu. This whole issue is more about Gozitans having a more efficient access to Malta rather than the transportation of goods to the island. Besides I don't think they'd like it if we start sending cargo ships in their port.

If there's a hidden reason for the tunnel I don't know, and having a more efficient link for Gozitans to my knowledge is the reason they always bring up.
Never have I ever heard them talk about accessibility of us Maltese to Gozo or cargo issues. And like I mentioned earlier, they boast about the ferry
service becoming much better ever since they leased the 4th ship, even mentioning the mid-August holidays where thousands of people
flock to Gozo, the queue situation apparently wasn't so bad as it used to be. Yet, they still want to build the tunnel. It's not going to be faster. The trip is going
to be longer and you might get stuck in traffic.
