Do you think the mind is purely physical phenomenon, or it transcends reality?

purely physical. we're all just trillions of electrical signals

Reality is a psychological phenomena

Can I kill myself with an EMP?

I just smoked a jay fuck off

Physical. Nothing can transcend reality, if it does it isn't reality.

this

but it gives us logical question, if the sequence of electrical signals gives us our "feeling" of reality, does it mean we will be able to feel other types of sequences? for example if your mind shuts down and you lose your sense of self, will you, or the things you are made from be able to "feel" or experience things? how will this body's perception change once it transforms to "dead"?

Everything is material

It cannot be proven that mind arises purely from physical phenomena, it is a dogmatic position

That's not incompatible with the mind transcending reality though

i put youre mom in a dogmatic position

Unfortunately, it's only physical, that's why you must treasure your life while it lasts.

The mind isn't a "soul" you can argue that the mind dies with the brain

the electrical impulses that govern your conscious experience don't magically stop once you're "dead"

the electrobiochemical potentials that cause the transmission of these signals while you are alive continue to discharge, naturally trying to reach a state of equilibrium despite the potentials no longer being maintained by bodily processes like the circulation of blood

if you've ever squashed a bug and watched its legs continue to twitch, that's what's happening to every neuron in your brain

that includes the part of your brain responsible for interpreting the flow of time

as it twitches slowly to death and the impulses get farther and farther apart, it is extremely likely that your consciousness never truly ceases to exist but is trapped in an experiential limbo that may last for an infinite amount of the thing that your brain experiences as "time"

so yeah sleep tight

I believe it's purely phyisical, but we'll never know for sure. We have no means to prove it

You can't "prove" anything since physics, biology, chemistry, and the sciences are described through inductive reasoning

>We have no means to prove it
Imagine thinking this

organic mechanisms make possible the conscience and mind if they get fail, there's no any condition that makes possible your mind, yeah it's horrible but we need to face it

that's my initial guess as well. but consciousness is not a proven concept, which makes me believe that it's only a minds ability of self reflection, which is just attention manipulation. in essence, it's bunch of particles trying to examine themselves. the absence of consciousness doesnt necessarily mean that it doesnt exist, it just means it isnt drawn to itself.

in my opinion, the way death will "feel" will be similar to how life feels, but only relatively different

why is literally every 2nd thread the same retarded apu in a different suit or facial expression? lack of creativity

Our brain is limited.
We can't even actualy perceive reality the way it really is

So you're saying the mind transcends reality, but dies with the brain, which is a common view within epiphenomenalism. If the mind is a purely physical structure, then we should be perfectly able to reconstruct it with neurons and precise amount of electrical impulses. When you die, your mind would be perfectly safe, and we could continuously keep on replicating it.

If we all live in a simulation or some form of it. For example, a neural network on a massive scale, which is actually quite possible, would mean that we are individual nodes. As such, as long as simulation is running. We will exist i.e. be reborn to be trained as a node over and over. Of we assume that we cannot interpret the simulation, but only our visible lives, we can also assume that our inner consciousness is linked to the simulation and hence a mystery to us. I like to believe that we are in a simulation which aims to train our consciousness to do a particular task, and it's wouldn't be silly that it would make us do several runs.

So, physically our kid is just a bunch of cells, but physics itself transcends our reality, see string theory. Due to this our mind does too, transcend the observable, as do all our physical properties. Think about quantum entanglement: we can't use it for communication faster than speed of light, but what of there is some pattern, or we have a key within is to decipher this code, without us knowing. What of this influences our fate and intuition. All of this could very well be possible, and it would be absolute ignorance to not consider this.

yeah but the actual knowledge of structure of brain, its metabolisms, its physic-chemical logic, etc, is not enough, we need more researches and experimemts but it doesn't matter all organic system are damned to death jus for the they live, you and i will die that's for sure may be tomorrow may be in 300 years, no one can defeat entropy

The latter.

>may be in 300 years
In 50

As if those two were mutually exclusive. Imagine being a retarded naturalist.

Holy based

How is a phenomenon physical if it does not manifest in our physical reality? mega brainlet low IQ finn

Unfortunately /lit/s jannies get upset when philosophical questions devolve into religious shitshows. I'm interested in how different flags answer this question

Everything is part of reality, not just the physical plane. But sure, don't understand me correctly and just claim victory, dumb moor.

>Everything is part of reality
Then there's nothing that transcends reality. You're contradicting yourself, chinaman
