why are they so rude? I have had at least one friendly interaction with every flag here except for the french, I'm not trying to be mean but they are quite abrasive. If a kind french poster wouldn't mind proving me wrong I would very much appreciate it. thank you very much and have a nice day/night.

That's not a very nice way to talk about your mum America.
>asks for a friendly Frenchman
There is a reason why they are our Erbfeind. You can beat them into submission but never teach them manners.
That's just how frenchies are.
Even between friends we most of the time are full banter mode.
So if a frog is rude to you, maybe he doesn't mean it.
>You can beat them into submission but never teach them manners.
OP isn't talking about bants. You guys legitimately come off as too blunt and socially awkward to us.
Well, I guess anglo and french culture are different, some anglo stuff feels pretty fucking autistic to us too.
I guess we are pretty blunt. But that's normal here. Say what you think, think what you say.
We even have an insult for people not saying what they think.
We are nice cunts, for most of us.
frenchfags on Jow Forums are perpetually butthurt
the french in person arent really like that
this but unironically
Try French people OUTSIDE of Paris. They're quite nice.
Btw. same goes for Germany. The people of Berlin are famous for being rude.
why do you think it is?
is it "the french internet attitude" or something?
I don't know user, i like most americans I spoke to.
FUCK OFF AND DIE AMERICAN
You haven't been lurking long enough, most of us outside of /fr/ are as informative and chill as other posters.
But also, yeah, we may come off as too blunt for your culture, it's a thing, I've noticed it a long time ago.
For instance for us Americans appear as being very "fake" with all their exaggerated movement and expressions of delight when meeting someone
> "Oh my goood heeeeyyyy *hugs* how have you beeeen ? You look SO good today :)) !!"
This seems fake to us. French people would be more like
> "Salut ! Ça va ?"
> "Ça va"
The good thing is, if a French person likes you you know it's for real then.
Also, sometimes what comes off a banter for us is understood as insults for others. There was this TV host who roasted Jonah Hill, or more recently when Macron said "I hop Brazilians soon have a President who's up to the job", the words seem blunt, but if you watch the way he said it, he didn't mean it as an insult, more as a sad assessment.
End of discussion.
>be American
>don't even address shopkeeps and waiters the simple courtesies like a good-natured "howdy"
>"gah why are they so cold and rude in my vicinity"
What are you talking about? Anglo are insufferable latent cunts. We can't be nice with them.
French are basically slavs. Total cunts that cannot into bants, so they're just mean in a vain attempt to appear manly.
>so they're just mean in a vain attempt to appear manly.
No you are off topic
And they take everything personally and lash out
Take that back right now !
hello OP here I guess the general consensus is: french culture is more blunt and they view american friendliness as fake (trust me it's not) probably because it conflicts with their cultural world view.
anyway I'm going to go to sleep have a good night and or day everyone
The french have a crush on Australia so not sure what you're an about
see ya
You mean people who try to dish but can't take it?
On Australia not on Australians
You're alright cunts.
Americans are loud cunts.
That's a different breed of cunts.
No they are from the same insufferable anglo extraction
Daww and you're denying it and getting defensive and pouty
Don't worry(we like you too)
>For instance for us Americans appear as being very "fake" with all their exaggerated movement and expressions of delight when meeting someone

This but unironnicaly.
I am french american, having spent all my life in france, although my mom is american she has become very french culturally over the years.
Each time I go to the US when people speak to each other using big emotions and tonalities i have the feeling that one of them is trying to backstab the other.
In france tthe way we signal that we love each other is by insulting each other in a freindly way, anything else would feel fake to us.
>don't even address shopkeeps and waiters the simple courtesies like a good-natured "howdy"
This, no hello, thank you, have a good day, goodbye.
I think it's because we have reverse socializing process :
Americans appear super friendly at first but it doesn't mean you're THAT important to them, just that it costs nothing to be extra-nice with each other.
We see it as being a bit hypocritical though.
French people warm up more slowly to others, we don't go beyond small talk if we don't know you and only once the ice is broken do we become friendly and bantery.
Social expectations vs Human expectations maybe ?
Incorrect, they have a lot more Scots - who are based and friends - descendants in Australia. Australia is like an unobnoxious mix of Texas and California. It's not perfect but they're still loveable.
Plus the quickest way to get tot he Kiwis is to win an Aussie over first.
At least that's what I've gleaned from seeing some americans fumble their way around Paris.
France has a very strong bedrock of mutual respect with one another, where even the highest highs (say a multi-millionnaire) have to conform to minimum politeness to the lowest lows (say the tailor attending him). If people don't feel they're getting their due in respect (which some americans can make them feel, since walmart teaches you to see through shop attendants), they'll get very cold and reciprocate it.
I'm surprised that we are rude when I actually think we are one of the most bitchy countries when it comes to flowery politeness (if only you could read our corporate emails).
So basically that's it, some americans don't do enough to speak minimum french, or don't do enough of the minimum politeness and then people serving them spite them over it.
So we are arrogant ("say hello to me american reee"), but we are usually polite.
Went to both London and Paris and weirdly enough everyone there was nice
Wtf Jow Forums you lied to me
The fuck did you say about me ? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in Armée de Terre, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on New Zealand ports, and I have over 300 confirmed sheep killed.
>I'm surprised that we are rude when I actually think we are one of the most bitchy countries when it comes to flowery politeness (if only you could read our corporate emails).
This is so true, corporate emails are the gayest thing that exists in france to this day.
We're about a third irish
Irish are friends too.
Basically, at some point in History, all of us who had to deal with English bullshit sort of agreed that they needed to get fucked a bit mate.
and hate Americans.
Lmao just say Bonjour, Merci, De rien, Excusez-moi etc. and show some respect and you'll get far. The French are nice and down-to-earth if you are that to them.
why being nice to native english speakers lmao, they are fucking scum, only nips are good guys
Fuck everyone, and especially the french themselves, obnoxious, entitled, arrogant retards alas. Half of french posters aren't even european.
This
I'm australian
I can't believe using basic forms of politeness to get respect in return is something that has to be explicitely mentionned;
What are you doing here? For how long? Where did you go?
Ching chong pong ping
French people are nice and my frens, pls no bulli

Blue eyed wh*toid here pierre, I guarantee.
I had an interaction like this with some american tourist.
I was waiting for my train at St Lazare, and this woman just plants herself in front of me and simply utters "metro?"
Bitch I'm not a talking signpost.
What about basic politeness?
I’m sorry she treated like that, but the truth is French are not human and therefore there’s no need to polite to you
no u
t. Barbarian savage
You get the treatment you deserve cunt
are you joking ? french people have to be the most hypocrite people, all that "savoir-vivre" and politeness shit is here to hide the ugliness of the french soul, the ironic thing is that frenchs accuse japanese of doing the same exact thing
