What's the point of this coin? What problem does it solve better than any other coin?
If the summary in the OP didn't answer that you should try it and you'll see.
see - still lots of things to work through but things are progressing toward this goal
I mean in a way you're right, it doesn't really do anything new that a cryptocurrency hasn't done before, and desu browser mining is a meme for most people already in the space. But it's a refined project with ease of use put in mind first. It's pretty simple to use for your average person once you can get some NIM, the hard part right now is that there's no real easy way to get NIM for the average person (buy BTC, send BTC to shitty exchange, buy NIM, withdraw). That should change in the future.
Also I suggest checking out the Nimiq testnet shop where they have their Paypal esque checkout system available to try. Won't rely on 3rd parties, interacts directly with your wallet in your browser. When it's ready for mainnet, it will be one of the flagship features of Nimiq for web merchant adoption - shop.nimiq-testnet.com
It's all speculation just like 99% of shitcoins, but it seems pretty clear to me that Nimiq has more to offer than most chuck e cheese tokens/Masternode and PoS currency coins/platform coins with no platforms yet.
That coin. Why will be that useful?
It is a means of transferring value by only requiring access to the web. It's more user proof than BTC (e.g. can't send funds to a wrong or scam address, the Safe will tell you it's an invalid address), it's workable via any browser for ease of use (with dedicated mobile apps planned, and some community members are already working on their own implementations), and because it's all coded for the web, it's fairly easy to develop for since Javascript is the most used coding language in the world. It also is able to do all of these things without needing to rely on a 3rd party (e.g. server, mediator).
It's definitely not perfect and there are a number of things it needs to work out before it'll be ready for prime time, but I suggest going to www.nimiq.com and trying it out for yourself. It's more advanced than a number of currency coins in the top 100, just young and in need of some tweaks and adoption.
