nah, not really. there are plenty international car manufacturers, German and Japanese are just some of the most prestigious. Cars aren't *that* complex, even not so advanced countries like Romania with Dacia can produce good cars. Modern military equipment is a whole other issue. Every country can produce their own guns, rpgs, and maybe trucks, but for complex high tech systems like tanks, warships, missiles and especially aircraft only few developed countries can put out proper stuff nowadays.

Oh we certainly could, but that would require restarting a small-arms industry from the ground up, since they sold off the tooling, and hell, the R&D engineers are all either retired or went over to civilian manufacturing by now.
